I guess I have several sources of my interest in the paranormal. Growing up I always enjoyed stories about ghosts, sci-fi, etc. I also enjoy history. While in high school, I began getting interested in genealogy. I’ve been doing research on my family ever since. Some of that research involves wandering around graveyards, which I’ve always felt very comfortable visiting. Mix all that together and I think that is where my interest comes from. I would love to be able to ask all those ancestors I never knew questions – so it is interesting to think there might be a way to communicate with those passed on. The recent flood of shows and movies like Crossing Over with John Edward, White Noise, and Ghost Hunters of course has fueled my curiosity.

I can’t say that I’ve really ever had any personal experiences. While I periodically experience déjà vu, serendipity, and dreams, I don’t feel like I’ve ever experienced the paranormal, seen ghosts, or the like. I’ve done some EVP work but haven’t found anything that I can really claim to be the voices of the dearly departed. But much like my genealogy research, I love the idea of “buried treasure” – finding something if you just go digging.

I would like to get into doing more research and getting some of the “tools of the trade” (more than just my camera and digital recorder).

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

When we are afraid we ought not to occupy ourselves with endeavoring to prove that there is no danger, but in strengthening ourselves to go on in spite of the danger. ~Mark Rutherford
