Hi, My name is Vicky. My Husband Phil and I own and run Elsing's 2nd Hand Shop in a haunted building in Stoughton, Wisconsin.
We had done flea markets about 17 years before opening our first business. We had our eye on the building we now own for a few years dreaming about opening up our shop someday in that building.
Well our dream came true. We were told by the people that worked in the building that it was haunted and we really didn't want to buy it.
We really didn't think much about it. We loved the building and wanted it really bad. We had gone in the building for pizza many times dreaming of what we would do if we could ever buy this building.
Well here we are now. We bought the building in 2004, the building we have dreamed of for many years and we have ghosts and or spirits. We had never given the ghosts a second thought until things started happening to us. We had no idea what a ghost hunter or paranormal was.
A few things started happening and then one night I went home to start looking things up on the Internet. I typed in the word ghost hunter in Google because I had no idea what I was looking for and came up with the word paranormal, I had no idea what a paranormal even was. This is how we all got started. I started sending emails out to some of them and now this is where we are at now.
We have been doing a lot of research on our building with a few of our friends. We are working very hard to find out what is going on in our building.
Our building was built in 1891 as the Hanson House/Grand Hotel. We were told it was haunted before we bought it. We have been
told a little girl and a few others are in the building.
In the 20's it was a known as a Brothel and the king pin of bootlegging in Stoughton. The Chief of Police they say committed suicide by jumping out of one of the windows in the building. I and some of my friends I have read the story and believe he might of been helped out the window.
I have been doing a lot of research and learning lots.
We have had things float off the shelves in front of customers and my husband. We have also had lots of unexplained sounds, like breaking glass yet nothing is broken, loud crashes as if a whole shelf has fallen yet nothing is out of place.
I am not a paranormal, just a person of a haunted building trying to find answers.
If you are ever in Stoughton please stop in and see what you think of my building, 421 E. Main Street, Stoughton, WI.
My Husband Phil. My Family, My pets, Otis (my boxer), my two cats Mocha & Cynder.
Camping with my family and friends. We have land up north on a 83 foot bluff. It's so peaceful and quite. Sitting talking with family & friends around a Huge bon-fire.
Boating when my hubby finds time to put my boat in the lake.
Going though storage bins and estates. (finding the unknown)
A good old thunderstorm.
Auctions when I have time.
Going out with my hubby listening to him sing Karaoke.
Goof to hear from you, Vicky! And glad that you mom is a little more stable and happy now. Must have been very "on edge" for you for so long!
I had been sick with bronchitis, so I know how you must have felt - the hacking lingers for what seems like forever!! But now the warm weather is coming, and you want to go up to your property and enjoy the countryside, so stay well!
Love to Otis and Baxter, too.

Wow, I have not been around here leaving comments on people pages for a long time. I have been so darn busy with my parents. Mom is still in the nursing home after two more surgeries last month. She's doing good though. Not sure if she will ever be able to come home for good or not, but she's happy where she's at. That sure helps us a lot. We are thankful that she's happy where she is at and knows she's not ready to come home. I was also sick for about 4 weeks. Boy, I didn't think I would ever get better. I am so behind on everything, that I don't know if I will ever get caught up.
We have also had a few ghost hunts at the shop. They have all turned out great and have gotten some more great evidence from the teams. I do have a bunch of EVP's added to my page. Some are so good. If you have time, check them out. I just love the EVP's. I think I have about 20 of them listed.
Summer is upon us and it's gotten so darn hot already. The shop has been slow with business because of road construction right in front of the shop. It sure doesn't help having the road out front all ripped up. That will end hopefully July 22. I can't wait. Baxter is not a year old. I have no idea where the time has gone. Otis still loves his baby puppy, but Baxter sure gives Otis a run for his money. They are so funny together. We are so happy that we got Otis a baby puppy to play with. So that's our life in a nut shell. We are all still alive and kicking. Hope all is well with you. Have a great week. Hugs, Vicky

Thank you for visiting and leaving the awesome comment on my page. I hope you are managing to stay cool in the heat! It is truely a blessing to have your Mother happy where she is. My Mother hated being a nursing home the last few weeks of her life. Have a fantastic evening! Hugs, Erika :)
