Blog Entry: Be Kind all, this had nothing to do with the conference, or their planners. This was due to the construction at the hotel that LGHS was NOT informed of... Please post this far and wide, as there are many who became ill after the conference, and they NEED to know this... I did not become ill (hard to believe huh..) but many MANY did... Please make sure this warning gets to them all!!! I will still be getting checked, JUST IN CASE. ~~~~~~Message from Jacqui Carpenter~~~~~~~~ I wante d to give you all a heads up. . . . . . . . over thirt y peopl e that I know of came home from the conve ntion very ill. I was one of them and am now on a major regim en of antib otics . Seems there is a bacte ria that lays dorma nt in carpe t and when pulle d if anyon e breat hes the parti culan ts it attac hes to mucus and goes nuts breed ing. I have conta cted the hotel to give them a heads up and also plan on conta cting the Publi c Healt h depar tment in that area. If you came home sick from there pleas e follo w up with phone calls to both the hotel and the PHD. The phone numbe r for the hotel is 502- 367- 2251 and ask to talk to the manag er do not deal with the front desk peopl e. If you have not seen a docto r you might want to consi der it, it attac ks the respi rator y syste m, the throa t, the ears and nasal passa ges.
