OLD HOME. NEW HOME. ONE GHOST. NINE GHOSTS.
OLD HOME. NEW HOME. ONE GHOST. NINE GHOSTS.

The Living World’s Influence on Spirit Activity.

A theory by Patrick H.T. Doyle

05.16.2007

Is the human cause equal to the spirit effect? Are
we responsible for the release of paranormal activity? I present to you
these questions with the following theory as argument.

Could it be spirits are dormant energies trapped
where the body expired? Imagine an old house built prior to the
invention of the electric light. There could very well be a spirit or
residual energy at rest in the property. It may have occupied that
space for centuries without any activity. Once renovations are made to
the house with the installation of wiring, outlets, and fuse boxes; the
spirit is disrupted and wakes with a new source of energy to draw from.
There are countless reports linking paranormal activity with the
addition to a home or the rewiring of an old system.

In newer homes, basements seem to be an area where
witnesses experience extreme activity. Is it because this is where the
underground wires enter the house? This sparks a question about homes
receiving power from wires on poles. Are the rooms closest to the point
of entry—where the wires from the poles enter the house—more active
than other rooms in the house? Does the activity weaken the farther
away you get from these hot spots?

“An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion.” ~Isaac Newton

If in fact spirits are energy they are bound by the
laws energy must follow. No energy equals zero activity. For a spirit
this means no way to move on. Too many spirits drawing from one power
source—think of an outlet with ten appliances plugged into it—equals
limited activity. Consider these formulas:

Old House + Many Spirits + Low Power = No activity. Too many plugs in one socket.

Old House + One Spirit + Low Power = limited activity. Short burst if any.

Newer House + One Spirit + Plentiful Power = Average to extreme activity.

Newer House + Many Spirits + Plentiful Power = In most cases one spirit will be stronger than the others.

Now you may be thinking: What about sites like
Waverly Hills Sanatorium? Massive building, lots of spirits, limited
power, and regular activity. This is where I believe we play a greater
role. A building rumored to “haunted” could stand cold for years. That
is until a team of investigators enters with computers, battery-powered
handhelds, and cell phones. All are feedbags of energy for a dormant
spirit to draw from and use to move an object, take shape or speak out.
After the team shares a piece of captured activity, more teams arrive,
investigating with new vigor, more sophisticated equipment and greater
power. This again fuels the spirit with the energy it needs to grow
stronger and more active.

“The energy of the mind is the essence of life.” ~Aristotle

What about graveyards and battlefield? Good
question. If you’re familiar with composting, you know when organic
matter, like you and I, decomposes it creates heat. Heat is energy. The
larger the compost heap, the more heat. When our bodies feed the earth
we create the energy needed for a spirit to become active (our own body
could be the energy source we need to move on). The more bodies in the
ground equals more energy released into an area. I can only speculate
that it’s a more powerful spirit “haunting” an outdoor site. One who’s
able to pull these energies together—possibly an older spirit or one
with strong emotional ties to the area.

If we are to assume this theory I present to be
true, is there a cool down period in spirit activity? After a long
workout at the gym, muscles have exerted more energy than normal—they
let us know how much more with the pain we feel the next day. Our
muscles need a cool down period—time to heal before the next workout.
Since everything on this planet is made up of the same basic elements,
strung together it tight little sequences of energy, can we believe
spirit energy also needs this cool down period. I’ve heard from a
number of people saying the activity in their homes quieted after a
“rewarding” investigation. The opposite is also true. Sometimes after a
team leaves an uneventful investigation the activity spikes. This could
simply be the spirit waiting for a “full charge” before manifesting.
It’s like slowly pulling back the plunger on a pinball machine.

I’m sure you’re familiar with the saying: Strength
in numbers. We generate energy when we’re dead and alive. If you have a
team of 5-10 investigators moving though a house with their emotions
running high and blood racing with excitement, you’re expelling that
group energy into the air—orbs of free floating energy in a confined
space perfectly suited for a wanting spirit to absorb.

“It’s because of the electrical crap choking the air more people are sick all the time.”

~ My Grandma Dodie.

This floating energy brings me to another fact. Over
the past two decades or more we have been saturating the air with
energy. Most recently with cell phone signals, cable television, remote
controls, radio waves, satellite transmissions, and the wireless
internet. We have submerged ourselves in a sea of constantly flowing
energy. We can’t see it or draw from it, but can spirits? If not now
will they find a way in the future? How does this new source of energy
translate into spirit activity? I wouldn’t be surprised if we start to
see a rise in sightings in homes, offices, and even on street corners.

Of course there are additional influences on spirit
activity I didn’t address—the Earth, crystals, and atmospheric
changes—this is just one of many angles. All in all I hope my theory of
humans being the cause for spirit activity becomes an open subject of
debate. I am not the answer man. I am often wrong. I welcome the
thoughts of many and listen to all, because in the end there can be no
conclusion except our conclusion in this life. When that time come we
will all know the answer to this and every one of our questions. For
now, the goal of my theory is to feed our need for answers and expand
our research. In turn, creating more energy for our friends in the
paranormal world.

With all that in mind, I leave you with this
hypothetical: Should the living relatives of a ghost in your house be
responsible for at least a small portion of the electricity bill?

Next time we’ll discuss: THE HYBRID GHOST. Alternative energy for a cleaner paranormal world.

From the Desk of IAH:
There are still issues with the inboxes. I'll get on it tomorrow and see if I can't figure out what the problem is. I apologize for any unusual things that may occur during this time. Maybe we really are haunted!?
