I am really saddened by something right now. It's something I've never understood, and I'm always shocked and usually furious when I find it on every where I turn and sometimes even here, in the paranormal community where people are considered "open minded and accepting".

I was raised by a man who died at 51 last December. He wasn't my biological father, but he WAS the only one to ever ask where I was going, when I would be home, what I would be doing. He WAS the one to come to school functions, give hugs when I cried, and call to check up on me. When my husband and I seperated briefly in the winter of 2005 he was the one to bring me Valentines. He served his country, he worked hard, he supported his family, he raised some of his brothers and sisters. And he turned out to be gay.

I am grieving. Is that grief not valid to certain political parties or people with different points of view? Apparently not. Because people still feel free to e-mail and post things telling me how bad a person he was. People still insist on lumping him into one political and social category because GOD made him the way he was. People still post hurtful things in prominant places, on public display, making fun of any point of view different from their own, knowing FULL WELL and completely disregarding the fact that people who don't see things the same will be potentially hurt or offended by their words.

Why do people post things that are potentially hurtful to others? Why on earth would you want to post something that could make someone else sit at their computer and cry? Why? Do people really believe their views are that important? That they have a compulsion to e-mail and post them? Is it really that important for me to know which "side" you are on? I hate to tell you, but it's not. Not to me.

Me, I'm just getting through things one day at a time. I'm looking, really looking at the people around me and trying to be a decent person whether I agree with their point of view or not. I'm trying to practice something similiar to independent thought and moderation. And just about the ONLY thing I can't tolerate is the extremist "if you aren't just like me then you are WRONG" point of view.

To me, posting or e-mailing something that generalizes, bashes or over simplifies another group's beliefs is an insensitivity that frankly my mind just can't even grasp. I don't do it about people whose views I disagree with........but plenty of people do.

Having a strong opinion is great. It makes you a real person. Splashing it all over the place as if it's the only opinion on earth and you invented the concept....well it sucks.

In fact, this is the closest thing you WILL EVER see me make to a political e-mail or post. Because I think certain things are PRIVATE and certain things are so closely held by so many people that I wouldn't in a million years think my opinion so superior to theirs that I can subject them to mine in a public setting or while they are sitting in the privacey of their own home attempting to relax with a few minutes of ******* e-mail or an internet hobby.

And for the record, when I get a hateful post or e-mail telling me how to vote or think, I am never swayed and in fact usually go running in the opposite direction. So don't even try to tell me these types of things are supposed to be informative or useful on ANY level.

Geeze. I hate the year leading up to an election year. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. I'm not coming back to this blog again, I said what I had to say. ~~Bugg
