Just got back from NOLA. The city is coming back strong! About 95% normal. A few places have closed, but only a small few. Had a great time, and even went to St. Louis #1. No problems at all. I LOVE NEW ORLEANS!!
I will be going this June. I am very familiar with the city-got married there in '96. Been back every year but not in 2006. We will stay in the Quarter. We know "where not to go" so we'll be o.k. I love New Olreans, and want to retire there in a few years. Yeah, I know about the crime & stuff, but it's always been bad. It's my favorite place on the planet!! I thank you all for your comments & concerns! LONG LIVE NOLA!
I would imagine that it's not too soon for investigations haunting-wise, yet I think I would be more concerned with the crime situations there,I hear it's pretty bad in quite a few areas. Not to mention I'd be just as concerned with the health situations...ie: excessive mold, excessive rats, and buildings that may not be safe to venture in or around.
New Orleans is an old city anyways and I'm sure full of ghostly tales. I'm not sure I would go in any abandoned houses that were affected by Katrina. I cant imagine it safe not to mention the mold...ewwwww
No it is not too soon. I agree also, if you are repectful to the locals and their property well then have at it... However,I do not encourage going to places where you have not gotten the proper "ok" to be there. Also, stick to areas that you know. This city is still a "mess" right now in certain areas with thugs/ crime..so do not venture off into unknown areas.. be safe. There are many, many great "haunts" to go to there. I am a frequent visitor as I only live less than an hour from the "Big Easy".. Have fun.
I don't think it is too soon. As the others have said, when is considered a good time? As long as it is done respectfully so as not to anger any of the living relatives, I would say its okay.
