Ghost or not?
by Gerald

This blog is one I had up before on the site but thought it was important to repost this again...Also it's another good reason to photograph using film...

Ghost or Not?

I have posted a picture in my gallery entitled Developing Error. I was lucky enough to capture this shot at Ghost Hill (an earlier blog before the hack).

This picture was taken on 35 mm film.  Most of the ghost hunters where using film (as digital was still unproven/untrusted) in the ghost hunting field.  During this time period a lot of sites where showing this type of anomaly(some still do).  More so with the redish type of distortion in the upper left side.  This photo had that and a full ghosty!  And the entity even stood in the center of the picture frame!  Even better he was behind the fence :)  Which to me with him behind the fence ment it was genuine...When I opened the package of developed pictures you can imagine my (and my groups) excitement!

Take a look and see what you think before you read on!

Possible Spoiler Below ;p

Now having the best ghosty shot of my career I went back and looked at the negatives....
This is when the shock set in.

The red at the top and the bottom went into the sprocket area of the film?  Doah!  This meant that the image touch another piece of film (which I didn't have) or the edge of the developing cannister.  The maker of the film Kodak also uses more yellow in its film. (you can tell this by the colour of the boxes of film you purchase) This was Kodak film .  Fuji comes in green boxes which is great when photographing in the lush Carribean.  Konica is blue boxed and wonderful for scenic sky shots....."Well how come the ghost is behind the fence"?  In actuality the fence is old, dirty and grey.  The flash elimanated any colour, leaving only white, therefore erasing the red and yellow that should have ran through the entire image.

Have not seen these type of photo's for years now....Most likely because of the high use of digital mediums?
