Imaginary Friends

I was just wanting to know everyone's opinion on imaginary friends.  When I was a child I had a imaginary friend named Jenny.  I played with her all the time.  The older I got I didn't play with her as much.  My mother never said anything about it she just let me play my little heart out.  (Even though later in life she told me that my father would stand with me every morning while I waited on the school bus and he had passed away.)   I have had people tell me that imaginary friends are much more.  Are they spirit guides, angels or just imaginary?    I don't consider myself a sensitive or anything like that but I was just wondering what are imaginary friends, are they just imaginary or something more?

My understanding is, it is case by case. Some, I believe, are ghosts, some are spirit guides or angels, and some are bad entities. Still there are some special kids that have a pure imaginary friends. I call them special because it takes a lot of thinking to creat and deal with a true imagination.

I had an imaginary friend named Marvin.  He used to amaze my friends with little tricks, like turning lights off and on and opening and closing doors for me.  He taught me how to whistle (and my parents freaked, because the tune I was whistling was one my great-grandfather used to whistle all the time -- he killed himself about where our house stands).  I never thought of him as imaginary.  As I grew older, I played with Marvin less and less until I more or less forgot about him.

When my daughter who is now 6 was about 3, she began telling us about her friend Marvin that lived in her closet.  (We live in the house where I grew up.)  I had never mentioned Marvin to her, but her description is very familiar to me.

Of course, she talks about the other man in her room, too, and he is "not very nice."  And, oh yes, I remember him well, too.

I have thought about this alot after I bought my building and have been learning so much about ghost, spirits and children being able to see more then we can. My feelings and it's only my feelings is that your imaginary friend as a child could of been a spirit. I only think this because of learning that children under a age of 8 or 9 can see spirits that we can not. I don't know if I'm right, but that's how I feel. I don't remember ever having imaginary friends when I was young, I guess I'll have to ask my Mother if she remembers if I did or not.

I actually had several imaginary friends.  One, Kelly, was always so bad- running down the street ahead of us, climbing on furniture.  I definitely wonder about them.  Were they actually real or did I just make them up- like, did I want to be the one running down the street and climbing on the furniture?! I don't remember it at all.  My mom sure does!
