Now He Belongs To The Ages
Hi Gang,
I regret to inform all of you of the passing of Mr. Harry Sayles, a certified medium in the NSAC, who resided in Buffalo, NY . Harry passed from this world on Tuesday leaving a void that will prove hard to fill.
I first met Harry at the Spiritualist Temple in East Aurora, NY. He wore his signature red sportscoat and I believe was telling a story about a local casino that he recently visited. He had a headfull of white hair and a classic ruddy complexion. Harry was also a true celt in mannerisms and frankness. If you were in his sights, boy you knew it.
Harry Sayles was an old school medium...he said it like it was and did not care if you did not like him or what spirit had to say. In fact I modeled much of my own gallery and podium style after his. He always started out his public readings with a joke or related something funny - then got into the meat and potatoes of the matters at hand. Once I remember him getting a twinkle in his eye that was often present when he was working. Spirit must have whispered something funny in his ear as he cold hardly continue with what he was attempting to pass to a member of the congregation. I guess that you had to have been there but I still remember it fondly.
Harry came up with the greatest sayings as he waited for spirit to touch in with him. My favorite was "Didn't you people bring any dead people with you?" That always brought forth a laugh and as we all know laughter raises the vibrations making spirit communication easier. I use it myself when I'm having a slow day or need to raise the vibrations of the congregation that I am serving.
Well Harry doesn't have to wait for the dead to touch in with him anymore. I only hope that he doesn't cause too much of a ruckus on the other side. I'll miss Harry. He really was one of the first people at the temple to encourage me with my studies, and as a matter of fact he was the first person who I gave a message to when I did my very first podium work. Talk about pressure...but Harry was really nice and told me that I had done a good job...even if my nervousness made my words stumble....
Harry was sometimes larger than life, I hope that he becomes larger than death itself.
See you on the other side old friend. Thanks for the inspiration and the next buck I put into a slot machine will be for you!
