The Price of Oil

This is not paranormal and I apologize.  I just have no where else to reach an audience.

I have just been reading about oil prices and we are in a time where demand has no effect on the price of oil. Oil is being speculated just like any other commodity and the speculators are buying as much as they can to sell at later high prices. My thought is this. These speculators have to store their oil someplace, even if it is in the ground with sand all around it. This has got to cost money. I may be wrong but I think we can set a goal to hurt the speculators.

Don't let the news or government say we are addicted to oil. It is a commodity we also need and is being controlled by those who buy the crude, and not the producers. This is just like the frozen orange juice scam in the 1983 movie Trading Places. If you control the flow, you control the price. But, I got to thinking. Demand has risen but so has production. Not on the scale that the current pump prices reflect but simply a slight rise in demand met by a rise in production. If we can start cutting back just a little, the speculators may have to start paying to store their crude oil. That will cut into their profits. People like T. Boone Pickens can afford it---for a while. So can the refiners but then they might bail out on such far sighted speculation.   Right now they are laughing at us because we are blaming the producers (the Arabs.).

I am trying. I bet I don't spend $20.00 worth of personal gasoline every 2 weeks. When I make a trip, I buy whatever I may need for the next few days. Then I park the car. If I was closer to anything, I would get a bike for short trips. Unfortunately, there are no short trips around where I live. The whole oil shortage is just a scam.   When the speculators start losing money, they will switch back to the frozen orange juice control.

The Saudi's need the money to keep their economy going just like everybody else. The Chinese will be able to afford high prices for a while.  But if we buy as little of those lead based child toys as we can and try to look for anything made in America ( I know it is hard) we can also play them out.  It takes a lot of money to buy fleets of Rolls Royces or stables full of fine horses. When the Olympics come on TV, when there is a commercial, switch the channel for a few minutes, even if it is to watch a different commercial.  You cable box will reflect your change of channels during the sponsors' commercials.  Simply switching channels during a commercial is a significant action.  It shows displeasure with the sponsors and they are acutely tracking our movements on TV.

Whether I am republican, democrat, liberal, conservative or libertarian doesn't matter.  Ronald Regan, if nothing else, had more faith in the American people than anyone in the world.  It only takes a little effort on our part and we can win this thing.  America, as a group, cannot be defeated in anything if it is united.  Refuse to do business with anything foreign for a while unless it cannot be replaced with something made here.  This is not a long term goal.  This is a short term goal but it will have its effects.  We can do something individually.

Sorry for the rant but I just have had enough.  Nitewing

There is another positive aspect to producing our own non-natural gas form of fuel - if we could produce a product that is cheaper and cleaner to use, and therefore, affordable for us and our allies around the world, then a good portion of dependency on Middle Eastern oil would fall off.  And that would hit the Saudis and others of questionable status right in their wallets (if they carried them).

With significantly less oil in demand, their economies could falter in a very big way in a very short period of time, and that would mean no money to fund and support terrorism.

Sort of like killing two birds with one stone!

I think I have found the bullet that may help us end this problem---FOOD.  America is the number one food producing country in the world.  In fact, we feed the world.  I grew up on a farm and I know about subsidies for intentionally leaving fields unplanted.

On the news today, the world is complaining because we are using corn to make ethanol for our gasoline.  They say one SUV fillup would feed a man for a year on the corn it takes to make it.  I say, SO BE IT.  Let the oil producers start buying food for the poor countries and quit blaming us if they are so concerned.  I don't want to see people starve but why should we give up on our ethanol production so we can buy more oil from the countries that are blaming us for the food shortage?  The more ethanol we make, the less food there is for the world.  We may wear out our shoes walking because of the price of oil, but when they get hungry, they will come knocking on our door, China and Saudi Arabia included.

I may seem cold an cruel, but they are also taking food out of our mouths with the price of crude and their reluctance to increase production while prices skyrocket.  I say, start using our our corn even more while they are withholding production.   The farmers won't be hurt because their demand will raise their prices and livelihood.  When they can start trucking produce again, the price will drop if we don't give our food away.  Let's see who gives out first.  I say let's make engines that will run on pure ethanol.  Shorten up the food supply or demand more production of oil.  There is a war going on and our survival depends on being strong.  Charity begins at home.  Nitewing

Is there any real Solution to this issue.??

On Tuesday (tomorrow) here in Pa is the Primary Election day for voting...We have other issues here in Pa and I will be voting accordingly to OUST many that haven't followed the Will of the People!!!

This is always the Starting point...Still many others just blindly vote according to their Party Affiliation and don't vote for the best person to do the job...

Nitewing, I do understand and i do know of the Media Censorship.  All I am saying is when people are ready to give up everything that they really do not own anyway ( the Banks Own) and take back their country then things will change. Until then it goes on the same way as always.

Davtrav,

The majority only rules when the leaders are a) listening b) not supported by energy companies in their campaigns, and c) are not heavily invested in oil stocks.  Think about who is in office. When have you ever heard anything about fuel prices in the campaigns,  and why are those questions not being asked from chosen members of the audience?   There is a news censorship by the networks who are allowed to obtain advertising money from the candidates.  People like us are not allowed to ask such questions.  The questions are filtered prior to the broadcast.

Well there is always free energy, and we live in a republic a government for the people governed by the people. I seem to think people have forgotten that! Your in charge of your government the government is not in charge of you. That is according to the Declaration of Independence.  But the stipulation is Majority does Rule. Now tell me this is there more of a Majority of people buying gas or is the Majority Higher of People who own Oil Companies and refineries?
