Demon: Origin of the Word

"Demonologist" is the new buzz-word in the paranormal investigation world. Hence, people are discussing demons, being in fear of them and looking for them to be the cause of many a haunting or possession. Yet, people do not question where their beliefs in such entities arose. We need to think, "Where did I learn this belief and what was its origin?" Someone taught this belief in demons, so who was it?

The word "demon" was derived from the word, "daimon." A daimon never was an evil emissary of "the devil." So why do so many believe in what they have "learned" from religion, when religion created this idea?

You can read Demons & Ghosts and learn some of the history of the word and one of the reasons why I do not believe in demons and devils as traditionally taught.

Demonologist - Sounds better than "FallenAngelologist"

Demonologist going back before say Ed Warren, (whom seemed to make the word more mainstream) was more associated with
Those whom appease and manipulate demons, not work to deliver others
from them.
Some fundamentalist Christian still cringe as though such a Demonologist is a sort of Satanist. SO in word alone people assume incorrectly. Typical.

Remember
how they skewed the word "Poltergiest"? More known to be associated
with "PK energy" from adolescence children. The true origin has lost
it's meaning.

I have yet to see any proof of faith based entities. I've seen neither angels or devils. I've never seen an elemental either. I've never seen anything that I believed was a God or an act of a God.

I'm not sure I believe that anything is either totally evil or totally good. Some of God's greatest servents were really bad men at one time. Even good people do not so nice things.

In the absence of something the is totally positive I would say maybe demons are the things good people blame for doing bad things so they don't have to accept responsibility for the bad deeds. Just a thought.
