I had an experience once I'll never forget. It wasn't much, but it got a friend of mine, a non-believer to believe in spirits. It happened in Sept. of 2002. We were visiting the Ione Hotel in Ione California. Ione is a little town, 35 minutes from Sacramento. (Where we live). We walked into the hotel, and there, in front of us was a staircase. To the right of staircase was an alcove, about 5 feet long. There was an old fashioned lamp in there. I walked to the end of alcove, and there, I felt a cold spot near the wall of the staircase. When I put my hand there, the hair on the back of my hand stood up on end. I called my friend and son over. The cold spot was moving. All three of us felt it. I searched for a vent or other thing that could cause the cold spot, but found nothing. My friend said the lamp was causing the hair on our arms to stand up.. static electricity or something. BUT I pointed out that it was moving. Within 5 minutes the cold spot was out of the alcove and heading up the stairs. We went to the gentleman who was at the desk and told him about what we experienced and he said that was the ghost of a child who used to play in the alcove. My friend is now a believer.
