I want to start out by saying that i am fan of Taps. I think they are a big part of putting the Paranormal research on the map. My question or problem with them is this. I here many EVP from Taps were the Ghost is crying out for help. And Taps does not offer either the home owner of the Ghost any help. Now they call themself professional ghost hunters. Then how can you leave people or ghost without any help. I call myself a amiture ghost hunter and make it clear that I can not help any ghost to cross over, or any home owner to rid themselfs of the ghost. I am here to gaither evidence only. If I came across a haunting were either a ghost or homeowner needed this help, I would request the help of some of the local members of IAH, who may be able to fix this problem. But I would not just leave the home after telling the client he has a ghost who is crying out for help.
I don't believe you can MAKE a ghost pass over. I figure there here cause they want to be for some reason or another. I like the taps show also, But they make it clear they can't get rid or help a ghost. We tell people that right off too. We will get you in contact with someone who says they can, but we don't guarantee it will work.
I was thinking the same thing as I watched a couple of episodes last night. I'm assuming this is what prompted your blog. The EVPs sounded very clearly to be a spirit or spirits screaming or crying for help (such as the castle in Ireland), the entity that pushed on of the TAPS members preceeded it's manifestation by a thick pungent smell (sulfur maybe?) and Jason concluded that this was not a demonic haunt? What the frig?
TAPS is a research organization only. I don't particuarly like their methods or shows. In fact, I don't even watch them anymore. When they say they "help" people, the only help they give is to collect evidence and make a presentation. It is for the client to get their own assistance for any further work.
I have yet to see TAPS postulate any meaningful theories to this point other than Orbs are bad. Perhaps this is a good thing. As soon as they said Orbs are nothing, the whole paranormal community took that as law.
Personally, I think they lost all personal interest in research. This is only natural since money and livelihood is involved. I think the only reason people watch TAPS now is to view the locations and not to adopt their techniques.
TAPS was a main contributor to the credibility of paranormal research. Now, I think they contribute nothing but gadgets.
I can't believe I am here defending TAPS. I gotta quit this. Nitewing
Keep in mind that you are only seeing 45 minutes of 3-5 days of investigating. Remember that there are no professional ghost hunters. They happen to be at the right place at the right time and landed a TV show. They go back and follow up on their investigations and do get the homeowners help. That part just does not make for good tv. There are things on their show that I do not agree with but they are good people and do the right thing with the homeowners.
We should be able to start serving websites in the next couple of days. I am in the process of completing the final setup for the server. I'll keep you posted.
