So our team went to the board of a location here in Washington. Our team representative did a presentation on our group, what we do and approached them with a proper proposal to investigate their location.
We got it. We bagged it. The board ok'd it. Stipulations: If the investigation goes well, they will want us to do another presentation on what we've found; no biggy we've done it many times before. If that goes over well, they'll want to put it in their museum.
Fast forward a couple weeks. One of the board members, really unsure of what we do, and was kind of iffy about the whole "ghosts in our location", decided to go rent the 1st season of TAPS/Ghost Hunters to provide her with an example of "Ghost Hunting". She invited other board members over to watch it, they congregated, and did. Mind you, this was just a few of a handful of board members.
They were SO TURNED OFF BY WHAT THE WATCHED ON THE PROGRAM (Demeanors, behaviors, and methods) ... That they bagged our investigation.
That was literally their reason. No exaggeration. No excuses. They didn't like what TAPS did and assumed we were the same way.
Ya, because our team runs around like a bunch of jackasses, with IR green night shot, making crass comments, being disrespectful to the location and it's heritage, and ultimately looking like incompotent oofs out having fun. When does the line get drawn?
WE ARE NOT A DAMN TELEVISION SHOW! WE DO NOT BASE OUR INVESTIGATIONS OFF OF TELEVISION! THESE PARANORMAL ICONS ARE NOTHING BUT ACTORS ON A REALITY BASED DRAMA; NO DIFFERENT THAN SUPERNANNY, WIFE SWAP, OR DIRTY JOBS.
They do not set the segway, pathway or advancement on how we approach an investigation.
DOE!
Foiled again by a horrible investigation example put out by a mass media television program. All I keep hearing about is
how "helpful" this program has been to the paranormal field.
How much they have "contributed" to our investigative society.
How much they have opened doors... blah blah blah.
From where I stand, sure looks like a set of heavy wooden antique doors have been shut pretty hard on us.
