I find the question about who is this spirit (is it bad/ evil) or, if we go to some (known to be) haunted place will we see the same things as others? Why would an old bridge, some ancient castle, or some curve on a well used ancient road (usually known as dead man's curve) seem to have that late night scream or the apparition that might show a misty form or even a decapitated body wandering aimlessly, looking for the head. At first glimpse these seem to be urban legends, or the power of suggestion, (having heard the same story for so long). Can it be that someone is stuck there? If being dead is so freeing why don't they just move on? Is this some evil entity laying in wait for one of us to walk into a trap? The answer to all of these questions are yes, it could be. What exactly are the facts?
First let's examine "we seem to have a ghost". We get home to find the kitchen light on and the water running. OK we might have missed the light but would we have missed both? I was taking a shower and saw something move past the shower curtain. Just my imagination? I was awakened one night by one of my children setting on my bed, only to roll over and see no one there! I go to the child's room and (sure enough) they are sound asleep.
As men we are not supposed to submit to such ideas. Then one day Dad is outside on the riding mower, when he sees someone go past the window of an upstairs bedroom. He just keeps cutting along until he suddenly realizes there should not be anyone in the house, so he jumps off the mower and runs in (to protect), like we are supposed to do. Finding nothing or seeing nothing out of place he gives the place the once over, finding nothing. Things like this are a normal occurrence so what does this mean? Dad will talk about it with each member of the family trying to discount the goings-on, as our imagination! By the way Dad never mentioned the bedroom window incident, (a man thing). So on the TV there is some docudrama / re-creation, or maybe even a movie based on a real occurrence, and we set glued to it.
Here we see things happenings that are similar to what we see in our own home. So now what? For lots of us it is time to get scared! Should we move, Why? Has this spirit tried to hurt any of us? Could it be the devil's henchmen? I doubt it! So next we need to know why is it here, there must be a reason. How can we send it on its way to where ever it should be going? Will it hurt my children, or maybe send them into the TV, sucked thru the closet into the TV? Amazingly enough for as long as this has been going on (thousands of years) there are no facts, only the stories!
Until recently you could be put into a mental hospital if you were too close to the paranormal activity, or at least branded crazy. (Hey that led right into the next question "Am I crazy"). I work with a lot of people who have searched franticly thru books, videos, or maybe even paying someone to come to the house to help (could they be the demons laying in wait to trap our money), By now they are ready for something to calm them down by the time they find me.
First lets think about who could this ghost be? Well there is a 99.99% chance this was someone who lived and died, why they haven't moved on is a great question. The one thing you should try to remember is that if this was a person, they will still have parts of, if not all, of their personality from this life. So if that means they were mean when they lived guess what? Most older generation seemingly had no sense of humor, because life was hard. So what we might think is bad could just be the only way they knew! Imagine how mean they might be if they got a taste of, listening to the so called music of the day, (or are they)?
There are several reasons (at least) why some spirit energy is at a certain location. The readily know ones are the big three.
1- because they don't know they are dead, (very common)
2- because they have unfinished business (also very common)
3- (Simply put) because they don't want to leave!
I will tell you in the years I have been investigating, 2 of these are very common, and sometimes once they have given a message, they will leave, but don't be surprised if they come back. (wasn't that a Stephen King movie?)
What about if this energy being there just to be close to you? A little weird, but it could be. Think about it this way, today most people have at least had some thought, and or conversation about an after life. Just 50 years ago would that have been the case?
The further back in history the more ties to organized religion were very strong. Nothing wrong with believing in something, but is it really Gods word? A lot of bible scholars and religious historians today are having more and more doubts about "Who said what." Think about the people who lived during these times. Life was so different for them than it is for us. I asked question to the church leader's in the 60's, like who is God? Simple question, I just wanted to understand where did God come from? All the sudden I was standing alone as if a lightning bolt was about to teach me something!
Not all organized religions teach about an after life, back then most people couldn't read so they were at the mercy of the educated. Knowing that what was it the average person who had to work almost every minute to survive, to know about what was to happen to them once they died? I know lots of you are yelling go to the light as if I forgot about it!!! LOL!
What happens once they get to the light! Oh loved ones, they will be there to help guide them. So what makes the loved ones so knowledgeable?
Didn't they come from a past generation that was, or could have been, more narrow minded in their thinking, so what would they know? Read the old testament only and see where it says come to the light? Roughly put,it says that God will send a messiah to judge us but never says what will happen to your soul until that happens. So could these poor souls be there waiting for the important things to happen that they were taught? YES! There is a part of the new Testament, that say after the resurrection Jesus descended to where ever these souls were to take them with him?
Are they there to scare us? Hurt us? Do they really even know we are there? it's very doubtful. This isn't the only way things will happen, some of these spirit energies do see us, but not all. Now how could that happen? By the same way that only about 11% of people believe in the paranormal on this side. Could the spirits be seeing glimpses of us and not believing that we are there? This might explain why your ghost does the same things over and over like walk up stairs go into a room, seemingly not noticing you. Scary isn't it!
Next time I will try to examine the rest of the questions I mentioned, things like Can we help them? Will I, or someone at my house get hurt? What about the spirit energies that know they are dead, but still feel like they have unfinished business. If that is too long I will write a 3rd or even a forth article until hopefully you can start to feel more comfortable, or get some answers as to how you fit into this big picture!
