Hiya everyone. I know, I haven't been on in awhile, flitting in and out. Checking on everything when I get the chance. Ah life, whatcha gonna do. So, now, I'm gonna try to be a little more committed to the internet (though I do have investigations and conferences and school beginning).
For the start of that commitment, I was wondering about something that I've seen quite a bit. I'm at the start of all my investigations, doing research, getting dates to go and blah, blah, blah. So after I do all this, plus the investigation, go over the data and then present it to the client, I close the case. For some reason, that just doesn't sound right.
You close a case after all the stuff is done and presented. Hmmmmm, does this mean that all the ghosts are gone? That the client won't have a problem anymore since we've come in? Isn't that kind of like going in to an abusive situation, saying "Yup, you're spouse is hitting you. Have a nice day." and then leaving.
Oh, sure, we could get them a priest, smudge, dance naked around a fire, or do some vodoo thing, but isn't that really just a band aid? Has it been proven that these methods truly get rid of the unwanted guests? Let's say a family is able to unite and overcome whatever is in the house. They leave and stay strong, nothing ever crossing their path again, but what about the next set of occupants. Is it possible that something could just be lying in wait for someone weak enough?
Is case closed a term we use, when we are done with the client and not when the client doesn't need our help?
