I understand what your asking. I ask the same question myself when having someone say they are speaking in tongues. I myself do not see the purpose in it at all if you need a translator and its all garble. I can not speak for God or the Holy Spirit, but I am pretty sure when they speak all can understand it.

If you look at the Biblical examples of Speaking in tongues, it was still an understandable language. In Acts 2:7 the question was asked "are they not all Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each in our own language as we were born"? The language was not gibberish but was understandable.

Also 1 Cor 14 is clear that there is some uniformity to the event. There needs to be at least 2 people to interpret and if there is not, then they all need to keep quiet! It should never be gibberish or uncontroled babble, and if it is it is not of God!

I have read several books on the occult. It is very interesting I know what you mean.I have read on stone magick, wicca, and runes so on and so forth.I like the pagan belief in equaility and balance.if theres a god theres a goddess to well match. Its kinda like checks and balances. If you take you shall also give back. I could see how one could get caught up.But they believe in 3 fold returns. If you do bad you'll get it 3 times worse.good also is 3X.Its powerful if you dont know your stuff and like Forrest said "Thats all I have to say about that"...........

As a practitioner of the occult, I would like to add some thought that don’t come up much in these conversations and that’s the philosophy of some occultist such as Levi, who like myself actually gained deep spiritual understanding through the practices. To paraphrase Levi it is one thing to think you believe in God it is another to enter a dialog with him.

Any contrary to popular belief there are many monotheistic occultists. I would include the masons who are monotheistic and the Golden Dawn, which is Christian. For the most part occult practices are initiations in the same way as the Catholic Sacraments, and spells nothing more then prayers. I realize this is an over simplification.

Can reading occult books cause damage just reading them? Well yes, maybe. I will use an experience many years ago. One I am not proud of but it proves the point.

At a time I became so furious at a man that I wished him the greatest harm. I read a curse ritual with the intent of making it happen. Soon after his parents who he was close to both died. When you have access to power and you don’t know what you’re doing, getting caught up in a moment can be disastrous. If I just read the ritual, the way I read a newspaper, nothing would have happened.

Also, when I was younger I read a lot of Levay. The words had a powerful effect on me. Just hearing them in my mind, makes me feel, for lack of a better word, evil. It’s taken me many years to overcome this problem. Maybe reading machiavelli or Niche does the same to other people.

I wouldn’t read occult books unless you are secure in your belief system and have excellent control over your mind.

My opinion on the Occult is its a powerful draw for one to stay away from. Although  the philosophy behind the hidden knowledge is almost the same as Christian teachings( and ill probably get blasted for that statement). It leaves one element out and that is God. Man becomes the master of the elements leaving out the connection with God. Which makes the individual practicing certain magical ceremonies think that they are in control of the elements. To a point they can be, but the reality of it is they are not. Which builds Ego psychologically and leaves avenues of more deception from other orders. Nature is of its own order and when manipulated with against its natural order, there is a price to pay because nature will always set itself in order. And the person manipulating it will pay a prise for doing so one way or another. There is no Colors to Magic, its just Magic. Without the intervention of God its willful manipulation of things that are beyond mans realm to do.
'Sorry to disappoint you, my friend, but GOD is heavily emphasized in the occult. I pray to Mother God and Father God everyday. God is responsible for me being able to see in to the future.

There are still issues with the inboxes. I'll get on it tomorrow and see if I can't figure out what the problem is. I apologize for any unusual things that may occur during this time. Maybe we really are haunted!?
