As far as going back, yes, I intend to look at this fully! As far as something casting a shadow like this, I don't think so. There were many things to cast shadows, but nothing to cast a shadow on at a 90 degree agle to the door. Or to catch the shadow and not be obvious. I've been an amateur photographer for 30 years, and I've never seen a shadow this distinct, this sharp, and with this unique shape and density, given the lighting conditions. I have another image with a shadow problem taken in the kitchen that I didn't post. The lighting was medium bright, and even. I was standing maybe 4 to 5 feet from the kitchen counter. I was using a Canon Speed Lite detachable flash. This unit can easily provide more than adequate flash across a dim room, even a large one. I took several images in the kitchen. In this one photo, the lower right hand corner has a large formless black blob, such that the kitchen counter can barely be visible. It isn't equipment malfunction, and I didn't partially block the flash holding the camer. Even if I had, it wouldn't have made the shadow this deep/black. Done photography too much. This is just part of the unexplained anomolies I've subsequently found there. This was supposed to be only preliminary venture, fact finding. I plan to take this place apart, from an investigation standpoint. And yes, I understand and fully agree with photographic angles, placement, etc. That's why when I shhot old houses, I shoot prolific. Its rare for me to shoot less than120+ images in a medium, abandoned house, covering the angles, no pun intended. Paying homeage to urban legends, I'll photograph old TV screens, mirrors, etc, from every angle, except 90 degrees straight on. I plan over time, multiple investigation w/ EMF/EVP/Thermal/ IR digital video/ and more photography..IDEAS ARE APPRECIATED!!
Another question for consideration..Was there anything outside that might have been able to cause a shadow or shadow effect.?? This was something else I was considering...
Now, being as close to this house can you go back (at you convenience) and about same time.?? Possibly take a few more shots from the same angle (relatively same that is) and see what happens and some from the outside of this area..?? Like to know what happens..
Example: I was doing some night time shots during an investigation at this one cemetery were I got a strange White Light appear...seeing as to how it might have been an 'orb' I decided to shoot again immediately...Again it appeared and I adjusted my angle just by ONE step and it disappeared..I looked towards the area to see if a headstone/monument that was in the area reflecting the flash from the camera...None was in the immediate area for the monument I was shooting at was surround with a row of hedges 3/4 around monument...I took close to 10 - 15 shots and each time I had one of the team members try to stand in the area where the light was at...finally the other person was able to stand directly in front of the area and the camera didn't capture any white light...I and the other two guys covered the area for at least twenty minutes and did discover there was a Monument/Headstone that was allowing the flash to reflect from it..This was in an alignment that was consistent with a small opening in the hedges..The monument sat four rows back and was on a downwards slope away from us or the one I was taking shots of (activity was around this area)...So, mystery solved..
Yes, I had considered this. Window screen is 100% intact, and has no attached plastic, etc. Went back, 10 minutes fm where I live, and inspected. Although I wasn't consciously making the photo of the shadow, the photo and laws of physics shows the shadow is not on the screen, per previous post here. All camera lenses have a depth of field, inside depth of field, reasonably sharp, outside depth of field, soft/out of focus. Wide angle lenses have great depth of field, long lenses, shalllow depthe of field. Also, aperature opening affects depth of field, small aperature, more depth of field, large aperature, shallow depth of field. The boards leaning against the screen are too soft, out of the depth of field. Nothing becomes remotely sharp in the image unti 3 or 4 feet outside the window. The shadow is reasonably sharp. ANYTHING on or near the screen, either side of screen is outside the depth of field, and therefore, cannot be sharp. Laws of physics, anything sharp, cannot be outside the depth of field,i.e., in the immediate area of the window screen. This is not to argue its a shadow lady or not a piece of plastic, it just cannot, regardless of its nature. be in the immediate area of the screen, too sharp. Whatever it is,we'll argue it's a black basketball. The black basketball must have the following features: It is about the height of the doorway. Its about close to the doorway as placed there beacuse it is reasonably sharp, and other objects are sharp beginning at the area of the door frame, nearest side, and outward. The black basketball is not beyond the doorway, as the far side frame is visible through the object. This is only analysis of placement, not object identification. I only know object placement, size relative to the door frame, color, shape, and translucent. Whatever it is, it is in front of the door, shaped like a woman, black, translucent. Whatever it it is, or isn't, it isn't on the screen, either side.
This is the horizontal of "shadow lady". The door frames to either side are more apparent and are reflecting light, making them, along with the auto-focus wandering, somewhat blurry. The window screening is more visible. The boards in the window, leaning against the screen, are out of focus. Anything else attached to the screeen would be in the same "depth of field", or should I say, lack of it!! The depth of field begins outside, with the branch limbs in the lower right. Even the first side of the door frame is softer than the lines of shadow form.
I am thinking of starting a free banner exchange for anyone with a paranormal website. If you think this is a good idea then let me know. If there is enough interest I'd start it up.
