I visited Genoa many, many years ago. From the top of the Christopher Columbus memorial you could see the barren-looking, brownish-grey hills in the distance. Dotting them here and there, perched on top where many ancient castles, all of which I was told were haunted.
I never used to think of Italy as haunted, but after watching a few of those investigation of haunted places types of programs on tv, I'm convince that Italy is truly a very haunted country.
I remember reading somewhere that during WWII some of our soldiers were stationed at one of these north Italian castles, and a few of them woke up in the middle of the night to find a pair of disembodied eyes staring at them. To me, that would be almost as bad as facing the Nazis!!
