Recently divorced with 2 kids still at home and 2 out on their own. I have been an RN for 20 years specializing in psychiatry. I have had interest in the paranormal for years but only recently began delving further into the area to learn more and hopefully get a group together in my area to start local hunts. I live near Anoka Hospital (where I worked for 5 years) which is known to be haunted, also a local pub in Anoka for some of the places I'd like to further investigate. The hospital residents have been moved to the new facility so the cottages are only used for various things by the county during the daytime.
I became interested again due to activity I began having in my home last summer. This began shortly after my daughter and her friend spent a night on the Ouiji board. They were certain they were getting responses...several of them both from the board as well as around the room. They said one was a man who died at 34 and another was a 10 yo boy. That they stayed because they liked it here. I really didn't give it any thought other than thinking back with fond memories to my teen years doing the same thing with friends... then things started though. Shadows, items missing and turning up in odd places. I once was painting with oils and had set the piece up off the floor against the fireplace to dry overnight. The next mornig I was sitting on my couch looking at it deciding what to do on it next when I noticed a small foot print on it. No one else was home. The kids were at the dads for the weekend, and I know it wasn't me. But I checked my foot anyway. As you may know, oils once on something do not easily remove without thinner. My foot was clean as were my socks, as was the tan carpeting. Besides the print was too small to be mine. Another night I was reading on the couch when I felt something move across my thigh and seemed to fall to the floor. thinking it was maybe the remote I started to lean forward to pick it up when I saw a something come down onto my right shoulder it was dark and shaped like a hand. It pushed me back down onto the couch and held me there momentarily. It wasn't really forceful but it was firm. I'd have given anything to have had some equipment that night. I hadn't purchased anything yet though. When I did look on the floor by the way, nothing was there. I have heard my name called a couple of times. It isn't a whisper but it seems more like it is inside my head, or right at my ear or something. I get up to look, altho I know no one is in my house that would be calling me by my name.. My daughter has had so many things happen in her room, she won't sleep in there any more. She sleeps in my room and I sleep on the couch. There have been several others too much to go into here. However, for some reason things seem to have stopped over the past couple weeks or so. Maybe they got bored with us. ; ) anyway, I never got anything. The one EVP I had was breathing. Labored breathing. Like it was right into to microphone. I not understanding how to work the digital recorder as it was my first time, screwed up and erased it...yes i was pissed. Never got anything more. I bought a camera and a couple of EMF meters now, but now of course nothing seems to be happening. Maybe they're on to me ; )
But, even though things are slow here, that by no means means that I want to slow down in investigating. I would love to be able to help these entities if they need it. I would love to be able to provide comfort, reassurance, and education to those who are frightened in their own homes or workplaces. I would love to hear from you guys and get to know some of you. Especially people awho are somewhat local that can share experiences.
I am concerned however, with all the hoopla these days with media interest, I fear doing hunts will become an even more costly venture. Facilities are already charging exorbitant fees to investigate their sites, esp the ones that have been in the media. I fear it will get worse. owners of places that they believe to have paranormal activity are now seeing that what is the 'in' thing, is also worth money...and they are cashing in. As long as people continue to pay these fees, it will continue, and only get worse. Demand sets the price as they say..Hopefully however, this won't bleed over into private owners of the small businesses or home owners. While having experiences to document and learn from is a high for all of us, ultimately helping people and/or entities wherever possible is the ultimate high in all of it.

people who screw it up for those who are trying to get scientific interest and eventual backup in the study of paranormal events. Dishonesty, cold damp windy days, monthly bills, drama..
