Viewing 1 - 3 out of 3 Blogs.
Well, the Paradoc is coming along nicely. I have a few more shoots, but I'll be unable to do the "evidence" segment the way I imagined it. Namely because of ... well, lack of submissions, really. I truly thought that if given the opportunity, paranormal researchers would jump at the chance to share what they've caught on video, photo, or voice recorder. I was wrong. I fielded countless emails, sent out as many contracts and waivers, and the promise of being flooded with footage submissions was promptly broken by lack thereof. So... what happened to the investigators claiming to have all this great evidence? They all just disappeared, like ghosts. That said, I'll be revamping the "evidence" segment in the Paradoc by using my own, which is pretty good, granted, but not as unbiased as I'd like. To all you out there who promised me ghosts-in-a-bottle - I haven't moved, so send them on over to the same address I emailed you before. There's still time.
Hey, for those who don't know, my husband Hawk and I are filming a
paranormal documentary. We're developing a segment that can get a lot of paranormal troupes involved. We'd like to be able to fly out to
everyone and get personal interviews, but it's just not in our budget.
Thank you to those of you who have participated so far. Now, about how
your paranormal group can get involved/credited in the film. Hawk
and I are going to do a "street" segment. In other words, we're going
to hit the streets with our cameras and ask random people if they
believe in ghosts, and other questions of that nature. Some of the
people will be elected to meet us on another day to review actual
evidence - audio, video, and photographic, to get their reactions. What
we're lacking for this segment is evidence. I have probably about 10
Class A EVPs, one Class A video of an apparition, and zero photography
(unless you count the controversial orb). Therefore, if you would be
willing to share your evidence with The Paradoc for this segment,
contact me and I'll give you our mailing address. You will remain
sole owner of the evidence, and any evidence mailed to us will be
returned. You will be properly credited for your evidence during the
clip when it's shown in the movie, and in the end credits. You will be
asked to sign a release stating that you give us permission to use the
evidence but the copyright/property does NOT change hands. I am
only able to use CLASS A evidence. Please, no orbs. I have plenty of
that. I'm looking for moving ectoplasm, apparitions, clear EVPs, ITC
images, poltergiest activity, possession footage, UFO footage, etc. In
order to submit it, YOU MUST OWN IT. Do not send me someone else's
work and pass it off as your own. You will be asked to sign an
affidavit that YOU are the person who recorded the evidence. Full
disclosure of where or when you caught the evidence is not necessary if
you need to keep it confidential for whatever reason, but I would like
to know the circumstances of how you caught it and what type of
equipment you used. If you're unsure of what to send, please contact
me. Also, please forward this to your friends list - I really need to
spread the word. Direct any other questions to me here, I'll respond with my regular email address and phone number. Thanks so much and peace! Bren & Hawk The Paradoc
So I just had a whirlwind weekend with Alan Rupnick. Alan joined my husband Hawk and I for a weekend in Atlanta to do some filming and a ghost hunt with Dianna & Joe Avena. For those of you who have always wondered what Alan is like - in my opinion, he's awesome! He's a really down to earth type of guy who researches the paranormal with a history of personal experiences yet a healthy dose of skepticism. He knows his way around an investigation and around the hearts of others. He was well received here in GA among my friends and peers, and was an absolute delight to be around the entire time. I really appreciated that despite the fact that he had been feeling ill and had to work 14 - 18 hour days when his servers were hacked, he still flew down to be with us at our request. We were honored to have him.
This weekend was a landmark event for the film for the simple fact that we had four different groups of paranormal investigators working together without any drama, and with full respect and cooperation between all four groups. They were (me, Hawk and Dan) The Paradoc, (Alan) Team I Am Haunted, (Drew, Jason, Bob and their friend Chris) Georgia Ghost Society, and (Dianna & Joe) independent paranormal investigators in association with GGS. These four groups represented exactly what the ghost hunting community should be - a cooperative between paranormal researchers. GGS brought the big equipment, we brought bodies and talent (and our film equipment), Dianna & Joe worked hard to pull the investigation together to make it happen, and Alan (a saint, by the way) flew down from WI to get back to his roots and investigate with other people in the field. This is what it's about - the radio shows & conventions are great, but cooperation within the field is key if we ever want to document anything with an ounce of credibility. There were four different groups at Barrington Hall in Roswell this weekend and not one moment was spent on "I'm more right than you" or "That's not how I do that, you're doing it wrong" or "send a lynch mob to "get" this guy in the field that I don't like." Who has time for this petty BS? Not Alan, not me, and not the others at this investigation. This investigation was about equipment, a balance between scientific method and psychic abilities, cooperation, focus on diligence, and most importantly, actual investigating.
It's getting to the point that it's almost unbearable listening to who hates who in this field. Is this what you're here for? To birth a radio show, blog, tour or other outlet as a means to attack your "opposition"? Since when SHOULD their be "enemies" in a scientific field of study? Metaphysical, yes, but if you call yourself a researcher or investigator after the word "psychic" or "paranormal" then you need to accept the moral and ethical/professional guidelines of a scientific study. Aren't we all working toward the same goal? Keep the drama out of it! I can accept that healthy opinions and debates can be good for a talk show, blog, what have you, but when everything is about ganging up on people to "take them down" because they disagreed with you on something, how exactly does that bring credibility to what we do? How does it further our research? How does it benefit the field? When people on the outside peek in, what do they think of us when 90% of what they hear is "so and so hates this guy - he's a liar because he didn't agree with me." If we want to be respected as researchers, we need to keep a leash on our inner child and stop kicking up dirt in the face of everyone who doesn't agree with us 100% of the time. If you can't go two days without attacking someone, how do you have time to do good, authentic research to further the field or educate yourself? How can you form groups for the sole purpose of keeping others out of it? Is this 7th grade, cause I graduted just to get away from that kind of mentality.
Hawk and I flew up north a few months ago to film a ghost hunting group for The Paradoc. At the same time, we hit up a guest interviewee at his home and made it well known who we were there to see. Even though the ghost hunting group didn't totally agree with the methodology of my interviewee, they didn't go on a slander campaigne to get him run out of the business because these folks understood the big picture - we only distance ourselves from the truth if we let our egos get in the way of our research. I continue a relationship with these people because of the way they investigate with their full hearts and do NOTHING to contribute to the drama these ring-leaders in the field are drumming up.
I appreciate those who stay focused on the study and OUT of the shoving matches. I understand that if you are targeted there is nothing you can do but defend yourself, but if you're one of the people draining the industry's time with your slander campaignes and actually KEEPING investigators from doing their jobs, take a step back and ask yourself, "Do I want to be right, or do I want to know the truth?" If you keep barring everyone who doesn't march in line with you from focusing on their work and allowing them to contribute to the field rather than keeping them occupied 24/7 with what you're saying about them, how will you ever know the truth behind what's out there? You won't. You'll be too busy forming your hate clubs and planning your lynch mobs to focus on what matters.
Please stop wasting everyone else's time.
