It's funny, when I was 19, I used a Panasonic cassette recorder to see if I could pick up anything as I slept.

Now that is over branded as "EVP", it isn't an EVP unless you get something. Right?

Now isn't it an EVP when:

1) You didn't hear it during the session, but it is on the tape.
2) You heard it during the session, but it didn't record on the tape?

I think People are confusing what is truly a "Voice phenomenon".

LOW Q:
People are also getting recording encoded into Shoddy Low-Q MP3's that distort and "flange" the sound that may have been picked up. (hence the Flanger/phaser FX, toilet gurgling and stomach noises more)

I NEVER heard those as I recall when people used tape.
Tape hiss, and mechanism noise if you used the built in MIC.

Grant it I am no EVP expert, nor do I claim to be. I have done some audio engineering work for video games TV and radio work, and own 9 programmable music synthesizers keyboards. (ADSR shaping) I also have had my share of Studio experience, and live sound stage was my forte' since before my first rock band even.  But this still does not make me an "EVP expert", a sound engineer at best.

Let's face it, It isn't hard to hold out ones arm and try to provoke a spirit.
I wonder why people who got results on an Ouija Board were not referred to as "OUIJA BOARD EXPERTS"? I call them haunted myself.
As this might make them 'special" it doesn't make them an "Expert".

Some are purely lucky SOBs let's face it.
(Some, however, are considered not so lucky, they don't like the voices coming in at will.)

The real expert comes in using the right equipment and cleaning the signal up, recognizing real paranormal captures.

If you listen to the noise for an extended period of time you might start to pick out voices no one else hears. This is a sort of sensitivity training. A bit like that in the way speculum has it's mirror gazing... Occultist train themselves to read your future looking into a cup of tea. One might hear what we don't.  Which brings me to another point, as in 'when does EVP recording stop being "science", and begin to begin to be more like an Occult practice'?

Anywoo- unless EVERYONE hears it, it isn't in my opinion a valid EVP wortyh sharing. Anymore than the latest dust particle is a ghostly ORB.

Deb, as many of you know experienced/lived through a severe haunting over 25 years ago, in a case Gerald Brittle's books called "The Devil in Connecticut". (A case handle by Ed and Lorraine Warren that resulted in an Catholic Exorcism).
As one who has been through the extreme side of a haunting, some might find they can better relate to ones problem haunting they suffer through today.

Some universal help, beyond Christian-Judeo solutions can be offered by they have minimal affects on more severe/'demonic' hauntings.

Because of the nature of the subject matter, and a desire for a more descrete and private thread.

A Note Ghostbusters/Deliverance teams:

We should all forget trying to “Label” spirits with other “titles” based on their behavior, varied appearances, and so forth. For too long it has be over complicated.

We should be concerned with ONLY two categories, properly pairing them to identify the type of spirit:

Category One:

Good / Evil

Category Two:

Human / Inhuman

Don’t concern yourselves with the heritage, age or gender of the spirit. Or labeling a shadowy being “Hatman” for example, just because it looks like it has a "hat".

Ask yourself what type of spirit does it fall under? While using the above "types".
That is how we derive the proper solution.
So don’t try to over analize with an array of spirit types, it is unnecessarily to over complicate these things like this.

I mention in my Blog on 'The UFO 'Aliens" Demon Connection' how in some of these so-called alien encounters, these beings recoil and flee to the utterence of Jesus name.
(As with demonic/evil spirits.) But I wanted to go into more detail why this would work at all, when it has also worked universally for other people with different faith and beleif systems beyond Christian.

So here I am going to try to explain this universally, so all faith and belief systems might understand this:

Jesus, to Christian is the 'Son of God', 'The redeemer', 'The Savior'. His Hierarchy is more so where Christian rank him high as God's son.

People have to understand, Jesus was a real person who lived on this earth 2000 years ago. And regardless of your belief as to this 'rank' and 'relation' in the after life, he is a REAL spirit, a poweful 'positive' spirit whom the negative entities fear and hate.

I have been around long enough to find using Jesus name, and not just by Christians, DOES in fact have a reaction on these spirits. Of course more so when you have faith. Which is psychologically is a sort of 'positive thinking', and 'confidence'. Remember 'positive', everything positive will affect these evil entities to a degree. positive attitude, music, thinking, objects, words, etc.)
And invoke the name of Jesus, is asking for a 'positive' spirit to ward off a 'negative' one.

Using the name of Jesus alone, is often all people can remember to do in a panic. Where they forget any and all prayers when in the presence of an evil one. The intense fear that comes with such an encounter may even affect the person where they can't recite their own address even.
But we know simply saying 'Jesus' name alone has released them from paralysis, attack, or brought a stop to poltergeist activity in the room for example.

This isn't in saying that it will alone always help. Just that people should understand the significance of JESUS as a positive spirit, and why it make work for non-Christians as well.

I haven't spent time writing this blog as long as I ponder on the UFO phenomenon. More so Abductions, starting with forth Kind close encounters.

Over the course of 30 or so years, from experience, study/research. And clients testimony, note that some were self-described Atheist and of other faith/belief systems.

It is not popular to say, nor I have I said it much publicly, but I have formed an opinion based on strong evidence that many so-called Alien encounters are 'Demonic' in nature. This blog is not as detailed or as lengthy as I would like, I am not out to prove anything to any of you here. Just take my word past clients and people I have dealt with in the last 30 years give a many reason to in the least suspect this I say CAN BE TRUE. I won't say it is always the case.
So you UFO enthusiast get back to writing your books and sending out letters to the sci-fi channel.
This is not saying ALL encounters are demonic.

History shows, that early Catholic/Orthodox church accounts that describe demonic encounters much as in the way we call them 'greys' no a days. As we find in history some of the fore father of the Catholic church have described such encounters with demons. The descriptions also compare; Large black eyes, very small nose, larger head, about 4 feet high, sometimes genderless.

We have to note that a demonic could masquerade as a 'UFO ALIEN' as it does with other appearances, such as a Child we often hear of in so many cases.

So we need to pay close attention to the 'ear markings', 'foot prints' that might be present that could indicate a 'Demonic' there is a need to rule that out before calling it "Extra-Terrestrial".

These simularities already have been noted that a re similar between a 'demonic' and so-called 'Alien' encounters: (A few noted)

• Alien encounters often at night, noting a time close to 3 AM
• Compared with 'Night terrors', which can include sleep paralysis.
• Victims typically describe the experiences as a 'terror', not a peaceful encounter
• Often reports of the feeling of 'evil presence'. Again not 'peace'
  
• Telepathic communication.
• Sexual molestations, similar to Iccubus/succubus.
• 'Probing' matches descriptions of Satanic ritual
  
• An utterance of the name of 'Jesus' has an affect.
  One of the ways we can in a way, 'test' a spirit to be demon, is using the name of 'Jesus'. You have to ask yourself, why would these Aliens flee like demons when someone utters his name? Why is induced Sleep paralysis, lifted when the person is able to say his name? (refer to this blog: for a why Jesus name has an affect on Demons/evil)
  
  We have to ask ourselves on this alone:
• "Are these 'Greys' simply acting on some childhood trauma from being forced to attend sunday church services?" Why do they often react like demons when such a name is uttered??
  
  Red flag!

Also, what we typically hear in up close and personal encounters, involve sheer terror. These people are often traumatized, very much like the ones we work with whom are living through a Demonic (extreme) Haunting.

Plus, when you think about it, we really don't have much proof of them being 'interstellar travelers', but rather more so 'inter-dimensional' travelers.

In Conclusion (for now):

Yes- We ohhh so want to believe in 'Aliens from outerspace', hey I love SCI_FI, it's fun to ponder of other planets and lifeforms, but I am not merely some naive fool either. Whom ignores the information given that spells something other than a little gray man from outerspace.

In the least don't expect any warm fuzzy feeling from such encounters any more than your from your first demonic attack...

What's in a 'word'?

A companion piece at least by the title and general topic to "what's in a name"?

Here it is a matter of words, words to describe, not being used or understood correctly.

Again with a Christian-Judeo perspective as expected. ;)
But the main point of the blog here is in saying how people get to caught up in the Wikipedia definition of the word, as oppose to how it is really used.

Here are some examples that apply to Demonology:

Devil.
Some refer to Lucifer as "The" Devil, while Higher rank demons are referred to as "Devils". Being as Lucifer is over all demons he would in fact be the Devil, or boss devil. The shoe fits.

Demon.

OK we all know some geek has to always try to rationalize what demons really are because of the origins of the word. Copy and paste blogs I see on Iamhaunted.com, just goes to show how one can be so misinformed trying to research demons on the web. And by typing in the word "Demon"

"The Greek conception of a daemon (< δαίμων daimōn) appears in the works of Plato… blah blah blah."

In short the origin is misleading in this case. Demon is referring to the fallen angels.

Poltergeist.

We all know it's original meaning as it is German for "Noisy Ghost". However the Scientific community has used this word apart from the original meaning in association with "PK" (psycho-kinetic energy) which isn't in reference to a an 'entity" or spirits at all. But the ability of the human mind. Typically as it might revolve around a child entering 'puberty.'
As Poltergeist is the phenomenon, PK is only one possible cause. (However, myself and most of my collegues will agree that we have not seen a true case PK poltergeist)

Exorcism.
I went over this in my Blog "Exorcisms- Begon!"
Confusion between:

Demonization – Temptation can lead at some point to self-destructive bad habits such as Alcohol or drug abuse, or Chain smoking. It is believed as you hinder to these temptations you empower the demon(s) whom tempt you initially with mere thoughts.
They gain a strong subliminal voice in you mind (so-to-speak) as you "give in" more and more. This is more or less "demonization." It is NOT oppression or possession.

The problem, again, is TV evangelist treat this as Possession, exorcising the "demon of smoking". Now prayers for one whom is demonized will help but portraying it as an "exorcism" on TV is misleading and wrong.

Demonic Attachments.
Attachment say more of how it is there and whom it is with. It is a sort of personal infestation, however, it may not have that level of manifestation. That can depend on the individual. The peers. You are essentially "Haunted", you might experience what some consider "bad luck" you moods might tend to lean "darker" or "Negative" as your personality might overtime move to as well. Self-control will no doubt drop and yes self-destructive habits will increase, while new ones might appear.
All of this can happen overtime, slowly or faster. It all depends on the persons, spiritual and psychological makeup. Overtime surely it can lead to possession, so this is why I give strong caution of "ghost hunting", why out taking precautions in protection prayers before and after the hunt.

Possessions and Oppressions-
The second and third stages of a Demonic manifestation, in a sense this is a bit vague, sort of saying it has gone from yellow alert. (infestation) to orange, (oppression) to "red" (possession). Realizing how advance the level of manifestation is important in deliverance. In a sense think of it as how advance the cancer has spread, is it more deeply rooted in the advance stages? That would compare to "possession".

You can have an attachment that might tempt you to do things that will invite it to manifest as an infestation or more.

I can add on here with more 'words', but let me conclude for now.

What's in a word? My final thoughts:

Typically I don't say it is an "exorcism" unless it is the Roman Ritual that is performed. However this will vary to others. Where I call it "deliverance" in other cases where it might be successful. This is where I vary from the origins of the leaning.

The problem with this is what is the common understanding of the word?

If we say it and others don't define it as you, you are not adequately communicating with them. With a client, and colleagues they need to understand what we are talking about. "Shop talk" is one thing but if your own personal definitions are not widely accepting in the mainstream. Be prepared to not be successful in conveying needed information.
We try to avoid "fad" words, as so to better stay on more recognizable words and phrases that are universally understood by everyone.

You could say my Demonology book will better appeal to laity than many that are out there.

As I will try to make it easy for ANYONE to understand. We have to avoid trying to be too intellectual, or cerebral, which might make us seem smart to the average Joseph.
But at what cost?
Comprehension!
And this not just Clergy or even Christians.
Let's hope I can pull it off well where I feel others have failed….

I wondered whom might have encountered the number "666" in a haunting of any type.
I find through case historys, personal experiences, study, that it really never indicates this is any special number, say that a demonic spirit likes to display or equate too.
Maybe at best some dabbler in the Satanic arts, along with the usual Black Metal symbols of inverted pentagrams, Goats head, swastikas, and so forth. It's part of that 'culture', but really may have little to no meaning to Ghost Hunters, Ghost busters, exorcists or "Demonologists".
(This beyond the biblical sense)
This more so says something of the spiritual/psychological frame of mind of the individual whom displays that number on posters, their clothes, bedroom wall, and so forth. It mainly says something about that person as we recognize and relate to that triple six number in it's biblical sense of the "Anti-Christ" The "Number of the Beast".

I wonder about that biblical interpretation, or translation even. This number I feel is not relevant to anything in my line of work, and the number "3" seems to turn up all too often as we know. Or even oddities such as the clock display straight digits (i.e. 4:44, 11:11, etc.)

(Note: Sometimes we do see some numbers that might mean something to us alone, and have no other significance.)

Example the trip odometer noting 666. That number to most of us signifies evil, and because of that biblical interpretation and perhaps we are hinted to notice it on the odometer as a warning (angelic intervention?). But also more like subconsciously we react when seeing this number , because of it's noted bad rep, we are more likely to notice that number than say 867-5309. Which is not so universal, espeically if you aren't in your 40's.

True, at least until some real anti-Christ does make his/her first public appearence, and maybe that number will make sense as to how it equates to "The number of the beast".

But if I were to draft a check list for things to look for that indicate a possible demonic haunt.
The number 666 would not be on the list.

This is sort of an extension to another blog previously posted. As I wish to add to it. : )

Calling a Haunting DEMONIC

Some things to note, however I will touch on only a few.

Although some out there are "quick on the switch" to call a
haunting "Demonic" first consider these facts:

THEY NEVER WORK ALONE

Spirits that seem to have a malicious nature never work alone, so if reports
being choked, or slapped, aggressive words and actions, do we always call it
demonic?

No, but we have to carefully consider that.

Whatever it is, human or inhuman, in this case it likley answers to a Demonic. The Hierarchy is that
a human spirit whom may dwell in a house, can be puppet to a demonic master.
They most often don’t act entirely alone. And here is where it confuses some. The Demon
itself may not have manifested, but just as they can whisper subliminal thoughts
and temptations into our minds. The silently call the shots behind the scenes in
this manner, more than merely influencing the actions of the human spirit that
has manifested. I have found and others whom are well knowledged in this field,
that “Shadows” fall into this category when they are not demonic. I read
someone misquoting me elsewhere, that I said "all shadows are demons". When I never said such a thing and that is not true. I will go as far as to say they are NOT what I considered “good” spirits.
But they can be either human or inhuman. If they are human the “They never work
alone” scenario often applies.

Then there is another scenario.

LOWER DEMONS

A lesser rank and power, as with some demons, are lower level. And they don’t
exhibit as much power and aren’t as easy to identify as “Demons”, they seem
‘weaker’ as these are also often easier to rebuke. And we find that they have
more of an aversion to basic “positive” things, even Incandescent lamps
(Artificial lighting) not just sunlight. This might be incorrectly judged as a
Human spirit. Just consider this rather than assuming only the more severe
hauntings are the only ones that are demonic. Because it simply maybe the
strategy to lay low and work into oppressing say someone to suicidal thoughts.

So we always don’t expect excess activity in a true demonic haunting.

THE MASQUERADE

Another thing to consider is the “Masquerade”. The demon doesn’t portray itself
for what it is. Quite commonly it is not the more melodramatic scenario. (i.e.
the little girl whom missed her mommy, or say the spirit of an attractive
teenage boy whom tragically died in a car crash.) These however are snares,
lures, to pull the heart strings and to manipulate us into making bad decisions.
Often custom designed to the person they are presenting themselves to.

We do “know them by their fruits”,

We never want to assume some spirit is less than what it
is, incorrectly diagnosing a Demonic haunt as a simple ghost (human) haunt is
when falling short on the true nature and origins of the spirits can be
dangerous.

This is saying over analyzing a case and coming up with a “demonic” as the
culprit, isn’t so bad. As assuming it is simply a “ghost of a little girl” when
it is in fact, a Demonic.

Gabriel Amorth made a case saying even that it is “Rather
silly” to scrutinize possible possession cases as mental, when all of this red
tape further delays a solution that could be the right one in performing the
“Roman Ritual” (Exorcism). Saying no real “Harm has come from the ritual”, so
why scrutinize it for several months to be 100% sure?

Good point! Even modern psychology recognizes in the least
a often successful “Plecebo effect” that can result from the ritual. (But
remember they are taking an Atheist view, would never recognize the source as
real demons) But we know Fr. Amorth is speaking of the “Roman Ritual”, not
some half-baked solution that is a careless mix of other belief systems for
example. Let us never confused these other so-called Exorcism methods with the
one I am referring to. Other methods can be quite reckless.

(Now don’t go throw salt all over a house, it corrodes everything!)

An inadequate and incorrect solution can also bring a
“retaliation”, it can essentially “piss them off”.

However, having said that, just keep in mind that it maybe
safer to assume the worse, however acting on it is another story. And how you
take action is also. And for Godness sake don’t charge them money! : )
