Loneliness Breeds Belief in Supernatural
Ouija Boards & Other Mediums
DATE: 01/23/2008 17:19:18 / MOOD: none
My first question is: What is your general belief about these different communication methods, in terms of safety?
Second question is for those who stay away from Ouija boards but think EVP and other psi mediums (divining rods, tarot cards, etc.) can't create problems:
Why do you think this - how did you become so certain? There are reports of problems from using mediums other than Ouija boards. ... Thanks.

When Will You Die? - Website
DATE: 01/15/2008 17:13:36 / MOOD: confused
Have you noticed the ad that’s running on IAH right now for the When Will You Die website. (Can’t believe I’m inadvertently advertising for them with this blog.)
Sounds pretty masochistic. Maybe the site should be called Learnhowtoworry.com? Anyway, I was sick enough to go to the website but too squeamish to really use the calculation feature. That's strange, because I don’t believe it‘s real. Not sure who would. Am just concerned about the force of suggestion doing a number on me after looking at some contrived future date.
Maybe some people really want to know when they‘re (allegedly) supposed to die. Are you like that? If so, why? LOL

Birthdays - Celebrate Mom First
DATE: 01/15/2008 15:06:06 / MOOD: irritated
I suppose many of us are brought up to think of ourselves as holiday gift receptacles - like we’re entitled to all sorts of holiday dividends like cards and gifts. As kids we get showered with free gifts from religious ceremonies (X-mas, Hannakuh, etc.). But even non-religious households are well-oiled gift kick-down machines. It’s weird enough that as kids we get free room and board and complain so much to our landlords. But on top of that, we got at least one very self-centered day to ourselves every year: the day of our birth. Which I’m not saying is necessarily a bad thing, but …
It’s hard for some of us to let go of that expectation in adulthood, I think. In my last X-mas blog, I whined like a kid because I got a sweater I didn’t like (and someone called me out on it, rightfully).
The birthday celebration is somewhat backward. While it’s nice that any one of us made it here (maybe) and are contributing to the world (maybe), and helping populate the planet (maybe that’s nice; depends), and have survived another year of our lives ….
You and I didn’t earn the right to have people celebrate our birthdays. You and I didn’t earn the right to ream out people who may have forgotten another one of the many holidays we all endure each year. All you and I had to do was get born.
But if you’re really sensitive about people remembering your birthday each year, let me ask you this:
When was the last time you sent your mother a 'Thank you' card and delivered flowers to her on your birthday? And did you buy her a cake for dilating her uterus for you? (I haven't) ... Yes, we have ‘Mothers’ Day’ already, but let’s face it, our birthdays are mostly Mother’s Days … it was no small feat to shoot you or me out of mama’s vajayjay. In most cases it took hours, sometimes a day or more. Sometimes it was really dangerous. Some of us survived but mama kicked off.
On that note, if you feel the need to coerce someone into recalling your b-day and giving you things, you’ve reduced your b-day to something obligatory and hollow. If you give someone a cake or gifts in hopes that next time they’ll recall your b-day, you’ve reduced your b-day to something obligatory and hollow. And manipulative. Some people show their love in other ways. The bigger question is: is this person thoughtful and kind to me in general? I’d rather have that in my life than some azzhole who gives me b-day treats and treats me like crap otherwise.

Two More Satanic Lists
DATE: 01/12/2008 18:17:11 / MOOD: none
The following is quoted from Wikipedia.com ...
The Nine Satanic Sins
Stupidity
Pretentiousness
Solipsism
Self-deceit
Herd Conformity
Lack of Perspective
Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies
Counterproductive Pride
Lack of Aesthetics
… Is it just me or do “Herd Mentality” and “Forgetting Past Orthodoxies” contradict each other?
The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth
Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
* When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
Do not harm little children.
Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.
* Ok, which one of you uses this phrase under your avatar? Can’t recall who you are but, you are CAUGHT heheheh!

The Nine Satanic Statements
DATE: 01/12/2008 18:01:54 / MOOD: sickly
Not feeling 100% today and have been web surfing, brushing up on religions. Landed on a page about Satanism on Wikipedia. While I haven’t the slightest interest in becoming a Satanist, some of the rules they have listed are amusing, some are just brainless and destructive, and some seem to make some sense. The following is a quote. What do you think? … More lists to come …
The Nine Satanic Statements
The Nine Satanic Statements are to outline what Satan within the Church of Satan Symbolizes. They are:
Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!
Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!
Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!
Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates!
Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!
Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires!
Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development,” has become the most vicious animal of all!
Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!
Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years!
