Chambercombe Manor


Getting to Chambercombe Manor was a bugger! Think it was the worse weather we have had for months, gale force winds and driving rain; plus to make things better Illfracombe from where I live is out on a limb... 3 and half hours later i got there! yes and thankfully its only the next county!!  To make matters a little worse i had read my letter wrong as well so i was an hour late!  not too worry there was apparently an inccident in the kitchen so they were behind too 

There were about 30 people including some young girls about 14yrs old with their parents... lots of people for such a tiny house, so being behind i ran to my cottage (lol yep i had a cottage all to myself ) dropped my things and went and sat in the entrance hall of the house alone while waiting for the group to finish off their tour of the property. I'd been sitting there about 20mins when I noticed that the door to the courtyard at the bottom of the corridor was open.... it wasnt when I got there as i had been nosey through the glass to see where it went. When one of the guides came to find me I asked if any one had crept pass me and opened the door... her response was "ah they have started... that happens all the time".
I decided to find the group and join in with the tour. I found them in the Elizabethen room where the group were being told to expect things to happen as they always do without fail and that they could guarentee things would happen! No auto-suggestion going on at this location at all!! in the small corridor between the elizabethen room and the crinalin room where the hidden room is i smelt tobacco pipe smoke. but as i was at the back of the queue i didnt say a word. A few rooms later 3 people were talking saying that they had smelt pipe smoke i chipped in and said "i smelt that to up there" to which i got the reply "congratulations thats a regular occurance here, hello im Dawn and these are my children I am the resident medium and my kids have the gift too.. stick with them!" so i tried too 

The whole investigation was a bit of a commercial sham aimed at the ghost hunting tourist  a real pitty as the owners dont allow private investigations and i was ear wigging and the owner said she is only going to be doing evening ghost walks in the future. A real shame as the house is pretty impressive, i think there could be some thing here.
basically no organised vigils it was a free for all. For the first couple of hours people were wondering around all over the place; noisley in candle light. I tried to find some peace and quite but it was hard as the house is small (only 6 rooms) and made entirly of timber so it was very very creaky. I managed to get the main hall to myself for about 10mins but other then that i just wondered and tried to find quiet corners.
Then we had the comical "regression" lol i swear one day i will be kicked out and asked to lleave cos i laugh too much at these things  A man on the tour had been asked back to the manor as when he visited a few months before he had started to get effected by something. He wasnt planted at all!! lol I think he thought he was Derek Acorah. His only ever invest before was at Chambercombe and he truely thought that made him a pro and real know it all  i bow at his feet for ever speck of dust was an ORB!!!! "ooooo ooo an ORB" "can you feel that cold spot, some one is definatly here" (queue an open window behind him!) the best bit was later on when he was convinced that one of the female spirits wanted his body - but thats another story   lol
Any way the woman owner of the property is a bit of a derek wanna be and although she is not sensitive in the slightest performed all the "contact" doing the 2 regressions from a piece of paper! (incidently - i sat and did as the person doing the regression was told and i failed to be regressed twice! maybe i didnt try hard enough! lol) any way this bloke was so unconvincly regressed to a angry bloke wanting to march that i couldnt but laugh! lol but enough of that as you can i wasnt impressed... i dunno what to make of the second chap as he was there with his family and he was quiet convincing but like i say it didnt effect me! and unfortunatly we werent aloud to film or take photos for some reason!
Another thing i wish i asked soem one to film wa sthe table tipping pushing lol  i missed the first session but from looking at faces i think lots must have happened.. so i joined in the second session. I stood next to the owner who was controling everything. Instantly the table started moving and when i say moving not rocking i mean moving about 2ft across the floor! the table in total moved about 8 meters around the room..... impressive? nope the woman next to me was putting her whole weight behind each push.... not sus at all lol the funny thing was people believed it... including her  lol

Through the night I used my new toy... my hanicam and i have caught some pretty funky light anomiles only 2 which i am thinking they might be a moth but the others i dont know what to say... 3 in sequence anomilies around one of the doors in the crinalin room facinate me the most... just have to work out how to get them off of my camera! 

I did get the whole building to myself at one point in the night which was interesting as the others went for a walk around the gardens... this is when i go one of my good anomolies... like it was saying "phew they have left me in peace for a few minutes!" Plus i made a big boob for a ghost hunter... i left my torch at home  lol i know what a prat! 

Ok the one thing that Chambercombe did for me was seriously make me think about how good dowsing rods are. I have done them at Bodmin Gaol before and i have to say i wasnt entirly convinced. But to get some time alone during the night i did some dowsing in the chapel where i contacted a 4yr old boy called Len who i think had traveled with some one to the manor that night... still not convinced me though... until i moved into the main hall (next door).
The rods were moving really fast and strong. I asked all the normal questions but it wouldn't answer just kept pointing to the door for the chapel. I asked are you male? are you female? no answer are you a child? are you a little boy? are you a little girl? no answer are you human? no answer hummmm stumped!  so i asked are you my spirit guide? nope! are you my gate keeper? YES oooo wierd! all "he" would tell me was that there was a woman in the chapel that wanted to talk to me... so i gave in and went to the chapel. The woman told me to kneel on the cold stone floor at the alter.... she said that my dads mum- my Nan was there and that she had a message for just me! Hummm i thought etf so i started talking to my Nan and she wasnt very happy about some thing and seemed in a rush to tell me. Ok we all know whats coming she doesnt like what im doing in my private life and told me none of my grandparents are happy about it BUT i'm doing the right thing and that it will work out and that i have to stick at it  to make sure it was my nan i asked a few personal questions and she answered correctly so im positive it was her.
The group reformed in the main hall and i was called out of the chapel; but i wasnt interested in what they were doing so i went back to the chapel. I got into deep conversation with Nan getting dates and addittional info on a particular person; the rods were still really strong i tried to stop them several times by gripping them tight but they would fight me and carry on regardless  I changed the subject and started talking about private things and started crying like a baby just in time for a group of about 10 people to walk into the room !! lol so i quickly said good bye to Nan and legged it into the next room...in complete darkness, with no torch DOH im daft!  


Total sum up... great location, great potential but over crowded and too touristy a real shame  Nan scared the hell out of me and although he hasnt said think some one else is rather worried too  
btw if any of the things my nan told me happens or comes true i will tell you all!
