NEW YORK —  Something strange going on in your neighborhood?

You may want to give Brooklyn Ghost Investigations a call.

For $20 an hour, the group of self-proclaimed paranormal investigators offers to go to your house to help chase away whatever goes bump in the night.

"When I was 10 years old, I started to see things — spirits and ghosts," said Sal Cicconi, 27, who formed the group with two other Brooklynites.

The group, which claims to have honed its spooky craft by watching such TV shows as "Ghost Hunters" and "Paranormal State," has one client: a man who said he saw two apparitions in his apartment.

Cicconi and another member of the group, Sergio Ocasio, 20, went to the man's house and waited until 3 a.m. to catch a glimpse of the ghosts.

"I caught something on tape," Cicconi said. "It looked like two lights moving around, like the spirits were playing with each other."

He said they used a homemade Ouija board — often used in seances to supposedly talk to the dead (or undead) — to coax the bogeymen to leave. But it didn't work. /**/

"Sometimes, spirits are afraid to talk or to show themselves to us," Cicconi explained.

Indeed, a similar investigation recently took place in a Middleboro, Mass., town hall, where workers claim to have heard strange sounds and even felt odd things.

Exactly! I go to lectures and some conferences in another field. This is only to keep up the educational credits mandated by the state for certifications and licenser, this is after the schooling and the certification and the license. LOL. These conventions are costly but they do let you keep your certification and license. Paranormal UFO conventions are great but the cost of these gatherings just to listen to several speakers and go on an investigation with them just is not worth the cost of it to me. I can pick up the same information in books that are written without travel costs or hotel room costs and food costs and investigation costs. Hate to be a downer but its the truth

I completely understand.. I *being one of the WISP coordinators* Planned to make it more affordable to regular people.. Our tickets are not that expensive at all.. If you compare... $65/admission $35/investigation at WISP compared to $290-$360 JUST for the Investigation/event and then on top of that,.. Hotel is $90-$125/night.. YIKES.. Those are Darkness events. But other conferences, are between $70-$125 for Tickets and an extra $100 for the invest.. It's a mess these days..

Tell me about it. The gas alone is going to bring investigations to a screeching halt. Especially when you have investigators all over different towns and they have to travel to meet up to go to an investigation. Plus the community things you do on getting information to the public thats all travel money. Then you have the conferences if you go. I cant fathom how some of these people go to all these conferences. It boggles my mind. Anyway the expenses one pays out now are going to be more severe for investigations and networking. Charging may have to be an option in the future. I do not like that aspect but we all have to face reality here.

DavTrav.. You're right.. It is up to the client.. However.. This could bring new legislation down on all of us.. As when accepting money for a service, a client expects a certain result. If the result is NOT what they wanted, lawsuits can, and usually will, ensue.. Which, will leave our WONDERFUL government scratching their heads wondering what else they can muck up for us investigators..  Most teams are already feeling a pinch from the Gas Prices...

These are the type of people who jump in to make the buck, muck up, and leave the serious investigators to clean up what they've done.  Hopefully, they're roadside billings don't get much of a glance and they'll give up soon.

Since all the paranormal groups that do TV are not paid by the clients to go investigate, I would think it would clue in the public that it should be free. I see they have done ONE investigation, so they dont appear to be real popular. I imagine most folks do some research first, and have talked to a few other groups who say its free....I would guess and say its up to the groups in Brooklyn and surrounding areas to spread the word about a " bad seed. " Im fairly certain this group will fold quickly. Too many other CREDIBLE groups out that way that not only would do a better job investigating, but will do the investigation for free. Good call on the post though..20 bucks an hour? Thats ABSURD!!!

I do not think the Middleboro Mass, investigation was a paid investigation. Although the group from Brooklyn story has been making its way around the paranormal circles now for a couple months. Anyone can see that they are themselves being used by the media. And if people want to pay them for investigations at 20 bucks an hour. Thats up to them and their clients.
