When people mention cycles of hauntings? Is there a general guidline as far as the amount of time for intervals? Can we look at the phases of the moon or emotions within a family?

The reason that  I ask things have become very quiet and calm again at my house, not that I'm complaining. However the time frames of calmness do vary quite abit. The times when they do pick up the things we notice are :

My german shephard starts pacing back and forth. She becomes physically sick starts messing in the home. Which for a big dog is horrible. When we go downstairs she normally follows us down the stairs, However when the haunting is in full swing she will park it at the stairs and whimper because she doesn't want to go. She seems almost terrified.

Has anyone got information about when cycles happen. We would like to prepare and try to find out who it is that visiting us?
