Ghosthunters Book

I am reading Jason and Grant from TAPs new book about Ghosthunting. (Forgive me, but I can't remember last names or the name of the book. It's been a frazzle sort of day.)

Anyway, in the book, they keep refering to Ouji boards as 'black magic.' Jason keeps stating a Ouji board will invite unwanted spirits into the house. I really dont' understand why a board is so different from a tape recorder. Before there were EVPs there were spirit boards, ouji boards, whatever you want to call them. Why is using a Ouji board so different than using a tape recorder or video camera to pick up something the rest of the senses can see or hear? Am I missing something?

Thanks, all. I'm not tied to one particular religion, so I really don't understand all the "thou shalt nots..." I do have many friends who are Spiritualist Christians and the spirit board (as they refer to it) is a tool of their religion. However, they do caution beginners not to use it because it can become rathering addicting and attract what they call 'lower energies.'

I love TAPs, but after reading Jason Hawe's book, he has many issues he needs to work on as far as accepting others as they are. He's human, that's okay. But he can't control other people's beliefs or lifestyles, which frustrates him greatly in the book.

In the Bible it warns of such things communication with the dead, and the folly it can cause, even with angels. Now this is the underlying meaning of all this in the bible, which is why go to the dead or whatever for answers when you have God. It breaks down to the first commandment which states you shall have no other Gods but the lord thy God. Kind of makes a lot of sense if you really look at it. Why go to lesser sources when you can go to the creator of all things. Even when the prophets had angel communication or meetings or visions or whatever, When they fell at the angels feet, the angel would tell them not to do that.

In my experience there is no difference, regardless what people say.

What I have seen that makes the difference, is HOW you use communication devices and WHO is using them. Remember, OUIJA was acquired by Parker Bros. and marketed as a game. There is nothing supernatural or paranormal about one board or another. There are literally millions of them made.

However, there have been stories for years about how people have called up unwanted spirits, but it was more likely the person(s) than the board.

I don't think you're missing anything. Some people believe any communication at all is terrible. I know catholics aren't suppose to, but it's okay to just sit there and leave a recorder going. In essence, not actually talking to the spirit. However, I believe that to be a bunch of hooey and just a lame excuse for doing something that goes against your religion. IMO

I really think it's about personal belief. What ghost hunting is is all theory. No one can make a blanket statement about what one thing does, because we just don't know. We make theories and judgements, because of our own experiences.
