Migraines and Mediums

Whenever I get a migraine, I am more sensitive to spirits.  My senses of hearing/seeing/smelling are heightened.

Does anyone else have this problem?  I theorize it is because my migraines come on when the barrometric pressure has a big change, and supposidly this is a good time for ghost hunting.  This coupled with heightened senses make it a 'ibg win in the ghost lottery.'  Any other theories?

Or maybe I'm just experiencing delusions and I should take more imitrex.

I started taking Relpax too - but something that is common with the triptans for me (like Imitrex which I've also tried) is that they make my throat and neck feel tight.  Not pleasant but I guess you have to weigh the alternative of having the migraine!  Relpax and other triptans work great - if you take them in time!

"My wife has been getting migraines for the past few months. Her doctor told her it was small sezures in the brain that caused it."

I definately am not an expert - but it sounds like your wife's migraines result from the seizures?  I know when my husband was having grand mal seizures he would end up with bad headaches but you can imagine what your body goes through during a seizure...  If there is a migraine that is classified as small seizures - not caused by them, that's something I had never heard of!

My adoptive mother was a migraine sufferer, As I grew older I have come to believe a chunk of those migraines are from supressing memories, others we learned were from a reaction between two of her migraine pain meds.
As I have grown older I too have begun to suffer migraines. I have learned from my Dr's they have MANY causes. The Seziure theory MAY be right for someone, Certainly not for me. I have 2 kinds now. One is the classic 'Cluster' and its caused by a hormone spike at the base of my brain. What triggerd the hormone levals spike we've not worked out yet. I believe it may be lack of sleep but we don't know yet. Keeping a log book helps. The other migraine, the one I call 'The bad one' is the one which landed me in the Neurologist office, the one which goes 'silent' and introduced me to the MRI machine. "The Bad One" is a migraine with a 'neurological component' meaning it has nerve involvement, it doesn't involve my bloodvessels so much. It can also kill me. The Dr was surprised I'd not suffered perment brain damage so far from it. Chalk one up to healing factor.
Suffice to say the med I take now is not a seziure med but one made for a 'nerve disorder' Its Topomax. Made for depression originaly it was discovered it didn't do much for that, but it had an amazing side effect of knocking out migraines.
I am taking a VERY low dose they tell me, but its working pretty well. Something to note, My Dr tells me, anyone with migraines is in need of MORE then the RDA of Magnesium. 400mg a day more.  We are just special that way. Like fair skin needs sun screen. I took one before bed like he prescribed and WOW the next day I felt 50% better. The following day I was all the way better. Mg gives your muscles what they need to unock. without it you can't. YOur whole body is in pain because it CAN"T unlock for lack on Mg. The pharmacy sells it w/o perscription. Just ask.Mg oxide. Kid you not!  Ask your Dr about it.  2 years now an I'm alive again!!

I've had migraines most of my life.  They are debilitating and there's no way I could do an investigation with one.  I just usually become supersenstive and 'supernatural' things are easier to see, darnit.  Me without my gear.

As for the sezuire theory, I have heard of this but it's a rare sort of thing. Most migraines are caused by blood getting trapped in the cerebreal cortex and running out of oxygen.  That's why vasco-dialators are successful for most migraines.   I ended up going to Chicago to the Diamond Headache Clinic for mine and would recommend it to anyone suffering.  My doctor (Dr. Freiteg) was only doctor who ran an MRI and found that I had a tumor on my pineal gland.  My body was not converting melatonin into seratonin effeciently, another cause for some migraines.  Thyroid issues such as hypothryroidism can also cause migraines.  These are the types of migraines most associated with seziures.  They are called Thyroid Storms and they can be dangerous.  Slyview, your wife should have her thyroid levels checked.

My wife has been getting migraines for the past few months. Her doctor told her it was small sezures in the brain that caused it. The doctor also perscribed anti sezure meds. They made her sick so was told to stop taking them. She is going to see a specialist soon. (I am not saying this is the correct reason why the sezures happen just who told us.)

I've been suffering from migraines since junior high... Slyview - not sure where you heard that migraines are seizures - but that's incorrect.  Migraines and seizures are not related.  My husband has a seizure disorder (not epilepsy) so I know about about those too.  There have been some studies to see if anti-seizure medications could benefit people suffering from migraines, but the results turned out to be ineffective.  People who suffer from seizures may experience intense headaches after seizing but they aren't usually migraines unless that person also has a predisposition to getting migraines...

My migraines are pretty debilitating... so I'd never be able to do an investigation with one - so unfortunately I can't offer any experience for you massagediva!!  My senses usually are heightened to the extreme when I get one... but that's never been a good thing for me!  I usually end up lying in a dark room at that point!
