Battle of athens
Posted On 08/24/2008 09:22:06

We just got done doing the civil war reenactment at athens mo. Our group had a good time plus. We got some little paranormal happenings there also. Of course I had no equipment with me. We heard voices behind us in the woods next to our camp at night. movement in the houses setting off alarms. Then there where things being moved in the museum when it was locked. My wife had some funny pictures she took of our group. I can say I had a good time over all.

I thinks of getting small groups all around us here to see if we set down around table and have meetings. We can talk about cases we are working on and get ideas from other groups. Everybody is equal. Make sure we don't jumpo other groups. There our casse that we are all working on that might help getting from outside ideas. What all you folks might think.

Haunted train wreck
Posted On 04/26/2007 22:34:23
We are working on a good place here in northeast mo. A train wreck back from the 1800,s witha headless woman walking the tracks looking for her head. This area and old town is really really active. The town it self is a ghost town nobody lives in it and it is in the middle of nowhere and we are catching some good things. SO far the town is called dumas mo. I drive a brand new toyoda tundra, When you get close to the town your headlights go out and then comes on. Seen shadow people. Good emf spike. Hope we caught some good things on evp.

Ghost hunter offers tales of the paranormal - right here
Posted On 04/15/2007 18:22:36
An inexplicable movement, eerie sounds, sudden blasts of cold air - three supposed signs of paranormal activity, at least according to experts.

Randy Tippet, a self-proclaimed ghost hunter and founder of the North Missouri Ghost Hunters Society, recently spoke to a group in Jefferson City about several places in Mid-Missouri that are believed to be haunted.

“It's up to each individual whether or not they believe in paranormal activity,” Tippet said. “If someone doesn't believe, there is really no way to convince them otherwise. But for those of us who do, there are several places in the Mid-Missouri area that are believed to be haunted.”

The word haunted itself brings a negative thought to mind, but, according to Tippet, being haunted isn't always scary.

“Not all hauntings are bad,” he said. “In fact, some are friendly and completely harmless.”

Paranormal, as described in the dictionary, is the claimed occurrence of an event or perception without scientific explanation. Explaining what the paranormal is or why it occurs is not what ghost hunters do, instead, they investigate only to prove or record that the activity is occurring.

For example, he said, if a homeowner is experiencing something out of the ordinary - such as objects being placed in different areas or strange voices or laughter heard in various areas of the home - his team will come in with proper equipment needed to record such instances.” This eases their mind,” he said. “At least they know at that point they are not imagining things. Sometimes this helps ease their mind, sometimes it doesn't.”

Tippet said the various equipment used in the investigations include digital and film cameras, digital and tape recorders, infrared cameras as well as video cameras.

“We record everything we see and hear,” he said. “We always work in pairs. This helps to verify the information because more than one person experienced it.”

Since its inception nearly three years ago, the North Missouri Ghost Hunters Society has performed about 20 investigations throughout Missouri, Iowa and Illinois, at no charge.

“We are basically people's last resort to find out what's going on. We don't charge for investigations and we are discreet in order to protect our clients,” Tippet said. “If someone asks for an investigation, we come in like guests carrying our equipment in suit cases. That way there is no embarrassment to the client.”

In Mid-Missouri, Tippet spoke of several places in which paranormal activity has been reported. Although he says he's not thoroughly investigated any of them, based on the evidence he's read and discussed with other ghost hunters, he believes the reports and legends are, at least in part, true.

fellow vet brought home
Posted On 04/14/2007 13:59:57
We have just buried a civil war vet and layed him to rest back in his family plot. We had the town fixed up like it was back them with the black drappes and candles. We had the hornor guard posted by the new casket, and at the funeral home for visitors. We wore our best civil war uniforms, We had the horse drawn hearse, artilary, and the whole works, and everything went really well.
