Central Ohio Antique Mall
Posted On 05/28/2008 22:46:15

So the COPRG crew traveled to nvestigate the Central Ohio Antique Mall in Columbus on the 24th of May.

Once again... a very cool locale. I like antiques, and this place was full of them! LOL. Overall for me, the coolest part of the place in the building we investigated was the top floor.

As always, I teamed up with my partner in crime Danny and we headed up to the attic/third floor... whatever the heck it was. We started an EVP session, and I have started a new process for myself. When we were in the Sullivan-Johnson, Danny picked up some things on his recorder I missed, so I decided to keep my recorder running this time. While we were up there I was getting my bearings and Danny was starting his EVP work, and I caught a few unexplained light flashes and moving light, and shortly afterward, the K2 meter flashed. For the next 5 minues, the K2 went nuts, and was actually responding to what Danny and I were saying. Through responses over the K2 responses, we gathered whatever was there with us was a male presense, past that not too much else. I have to say, watching the K2 meter light up like a christmas tree was TOO COOL!

After a while the K2 went down to no real visible activity, so we turned to go back out and found a room we hadn't explored so we went and checked it out. As we were going into the room (which had a lot of tins and such) on the table to the right of the entrance there was a table filled with a lot of old Coke bottles. I said, "Hollay, that's a lot of Coke," and laughed. When I went back on the recorder, there was an EVP of a gruff gutteral response to what I had said, I have my own idea what it said, but once again... pretty cool!

As for the rest of the building, really wasn't too much gong on, we head some shuffling in the basement, but really didn't observe much more out of the attic.

Ok, all in all I have only one thing to say... where we going next, and when? LOL

Sullivan-Johnson Museum
Posted On 03/31/2008 09:38:15

First, I would just like to say... wow... what a building! It was awesome, investigating or not, just to be there, the architecture, and decoration was awesome... plus I am a huge Civil War buff... the Medal of Honor Room was awesome, to actually see the very first CMH ever awarded, not even a foot away was incredible... whether investigating it or not, the Johnson-Sulivan Museum is definately worth a visit!

Now to the investigation itself. We arrived @9:00pm and got a quick tour of the building. The building is home of the largest collection of Kenton Toys in the world, home of an exhibit dedicated to the first winner of the CMH (Congressional Medal of Honor) Jacob Parrot, and another CMH Winner, Mr. Doyle. They also had a Native exhibit upstairs, and a lot of period furnishings from the turn of the century, u niforms of all makes and models, from girl scout, to band to military. The Basement and Attic were chalked full of stuff that interested me. And it was really cool to walk by old Kennedy posters from local vists, etc. In short... the place was AWESOME!!!

I teamed up with my buddy Danny and we hit the Basement. On the tour, I got some feelings from the back left room, but when we actually went down there, it didn't feel the same. We did our EVP session, took a boat load of pics and headed up to the 1st Floor. We started in the Medal of Honor Room, did EVP work, and took pics. We then went to where the Kento Toys are displayed, took some pics. We waited for a bit, and headed upstairs to the Attic... ok, that was fun. We started getting around the room with pics, etc. and went into the little cubby that is the top of the tower of the building, both Danny and I, at two different times, heard scratching coming from the walls. As we stood there doing EVP work, I kept seeing shadows moving by my friend, and hearing unexplained movement from my left side, when I heard the sound, I took pics, but when I got home nothing was there. Danny tracked down a security light, and we went downstairs. We headed to the 2nd floor, did some EVP work around the bathroom and Parlor rooms. When we got into the parlor, both Danny and I observed the curtains moving, all three sets! And there was not perceptible draft or breeze. Later, when Danny was doing EVP work, he asked if the spirit there could move the chandalier in the room, at which point, we could actually observe some movement in the chandalier. We ended up leaving, trying some native language EVP work in two areas that had artifacts, but didn't catch anything.

We packed up around 1:40am or so and headed home. I reviewed my photos and picked up nothing. Then started to listen to the Voice Recorder. One sound I couldn't explain, I later did... Danny's Camera turning on... LOL. But I also got three other things. Two sound like dog barks... which there weren't any dog's barking. The other was in the attic, at one of the times I heard movement, as I was turning there was a metalic sound like if you held sheet metal underwater and hit it with a hammer with light force, followed immediately by the words, "Help Me," There was also a woman's voice captured up there while we were there, but I had turned off my Voice Recorder... grrrr! LOL.

All in all it was an awesome place. Do I think there may be some paranormal activity there... I think so... haunted? There is still more evidence to be gone over... at this point, I would like to make this one an ongoing to try and collect more before I were to personally claim it was or wasn't.

All in all, my second time out was very cool... I look forward to what's next!

Looking forward to this weekend!

So myself and the COPRG crew are headed north to investigate Kenton, Ohio's Sullivan-Johnson Museum.

It looks to be an interesting place. The apparition of a woman (believed to be the wife of the man who built the place) is said to be seen, especially in the basement area. The museum is also the home of the world's largest collection of Kenton Toys. Previous investigations yeilded several EVP's of children, which would seem to make sense with the amount of toys collected there that undoubtedly have sentimental attachments. The museum also has a native artifact exhibit, which I am curious to see and investigate, and use a different approach in EVP work... just out of curiosity, I just want to ask a few questions in my language while I'm there, my family actually hails from the area that the museum is. I have relatives from Kenton, Ada and McGuffey, plus I have family from the town where the female entity is suppossedly from.

I have my video camera, digital voice recorder and digital camera ready to go. Really looking forward to this one!

My First Real Paranormal Investigation

My First Real Paranormal Investigation

Ok, so I am not a newbie to the field of paranormal investigation anymore! LOL

I had been invited to go on an investigation with the Central Ohio Paranormal Research Group (C.O.P.R.G.) and went to an investigation in Columbus last night in a hotel in downtown Columbus. Vel went along to keep Murph company and I got to team up with my buddy Danny, and met Rick and Scott and their wives. It was pretty interesting... but ain’t what you see on TV that’s for sure.

Was pretty cool though, the main report I had seen and heard about the place is that the spirit of a woman in older style clothing (circa 1900) was seen walking the stairs between the first and second floor and was also found on the second floor, where an eyewitness to the apparition said she had found the same woman in a picture taken in front of the building about the same period as her dress indicated. There was also reports that a woman who had spent the night there complained of sounds of "wallpaper ripping" that kept her up all night (there is no wall paper on any of the walls but the hotel had at one point been a wallpaper factory) and there were also reports of a baby crying when no babies were present (the picture of the woman showed her holding a baby.) There was also a report of a travelling cold spot that effected the woman in her old office in the basement of the hotel.

All in all it was a cool situation to check out, so we headed over, but the group was new to the use of cameras and set-up took a while. Danny and I did some work between the first and second floor, with EVP work, Digital camera shots, EMF sweeps, etc. and we did find some interesting things. First, there was a strong EMF signature on the landing of the stairway between the first and second floor stairwell. It was in fact coming from an older electrical wiring that was giving off the signature. There was also evidence someone had been smoking there as well. If I had to guess, employees already jumpy trying to get away with a quick smoke would position themselves in the stairway where they could see both ways coming at them (I know I would... LOL), that in concert with the high EMF signature (which at a 9 on the detector) could very possibly cause feelings of uneasiness and paranoia. Most people just report movement from the corner of their eye... in my opinion, a lot of the sightings may in fact be smoking employees that are effected by paranoia at getting caught combined with a high EMF field compounding that paranoia, that may be a little spooked by reports already matrixing an event. As for the office where the travelling cold spot was reported, we couldn’t go there because a resteraunt has been added that blocked that section off so we couldn’t get there. There was however, a line of electrical work that ran to that spot that was giving off a high EMF signature, EMF paranoia? I don’t know.

The major hinderence to the investigation was sheer traffic in the stairwell in question, I don’t know how many security guards and resteraunt employees passed by, some stopping to look at the cameras and some even stopping to wave. Unfortuantely we left just as the people started clearing out, Murph’s foot was hurting, and we were her ride so we left around 2:45-3am I don’t know what (if anything) may have been caught after we left. So to me, based on what I saw myself... I didn’t see anything that marked it as paranormally active... but there are some documented experiences that can’t be denied... it was cool, but I’m looking forward to going somewhere without as many distractions as we encountered there.

All in all, it was a neat place, and they took care of us while we were there, just sorry I didn’t experience anything there.

Looking forward to my next trip!

Just a bit about me.
Posted On 01/07/2008 16:19:00

Ok, so just a little bit about me for anyone who might be interested.

I was born and raised in Central Ohio, and went to school at The Ohio State University in Columbus earning my bachelors in Music Ed in 1995, I later went on to earn my Masters in the Arts in Music from Washington State in 2003. I have been a band director for 12 years both at the high school and college level and really like the job. My parents wanted me to get into a job where I'd make a bunch of money, I decided to get into a job that I would actually look forward to going to every day, and while there are some times I get ffrustrated, I love doing what I do at least 85% of the time... LOL.

I am a mix of German/Scots/Irish and Shawnee/Delaware and Eastern Tsalagi with some Swiss and Welsh thown in for good measure. I am a pretty active member of the native community here as a singer, dancer and activist. I serve as the lead singer of a southern drum here where I sing with Danny and Murph... Danny was the guy that brought me here, so it's basically his fault I'm here... LOL.

I have had several encounters in my life that have left me convinced there is paranormal activity out there. I don't think I can honestly remember a day where I haven't felt that connection with the other world that surrounds us, maybe my culture leans me that direction, but I am a very analytical thinker as well, when it comes to paranormal research, I am looking to disprove the event until I have no other option but to except that there is something in the event which I can not explain, leaving a possibility that I may actually capture some evidence that night help actually prove there is something else out there. My stories are my own and I don't open up to just anyone what has happened, I look forward to learning more and seeing what Creator has yet in sore for me!
